Life is funny a couple weeks ago it was Easter and we opted out of the usual Ham dinner. I made Fried Chicken instead. Then the week after Easter we went to pick up a few groceries at Kroger’s. Spiral cut Hams were more than half off. I picked up a Ham for our home and also David’s parents. On Monday I decided to make the Ham for dinner and we was able to eat on it for almost a week and still have plenty left over to send home with B ie Bradley Charlie’s best friend.
When I was looking up Holiday today April 15 which is National Glazed Spiral Ham Day #GlazedSpiralHamDay, Which David and I’ve decided were done with a Ham for a while. Instead were going to have a Roast, Carrots and Mashed Potatoes for dinner. We would like to invite you over for Sunday dinner and your welcome to bring your family.
National Glazed Spiral Ham Day is celebrated every year on April 15 across the nation. and the glazed spiral Ham is a unique twist on the widely known curated meat. Spiral Cut Hams are usually a part of holiday feasts, and we all know the glazed spiral Ham is a magical indulgence that needs to be celebrated.
For Centuries, meat carvers struggled to navigate their way around the ham bone. In 1952, Harry J. Hoenselaar saved the day. He devised a machine that skewers a machine on spikes at the top and bottom. Harry J. Hoenselaar equipped the machine with a spring-loaded slicing blade that slowly cuts through the meat, stopping when met with resistance. As the meat rotates, the spikes create a unique spiral design on it.
Harry J. Hoenselaar was also the founder of the national chain, HoneyBaked Ham. Back in the day, these stores were the only sellers of the spiral-cut Ham. Which I didn’t know. Did you? Now were lucky because today you can purchase Spiral Cut Hams all over.
Glazed spiral Hams come in half or whole, boneless or bone-in packaging. Spiral Cut Hams are either pre-glazed or contain the glaze in a bag. You could even opt to create your glaze. Did you know the butt end of the Ham is leaner than the shank end. The glazed spiral Ham has something for every meat-eater.
Spiral Cut Hams are commonly featured in big, holiday feasts. With the Spiral Cut Hams fascinating creation technology and uniqueness, it is an occasional indulgence that is welcomed with open arms. The glazed spiral Ham is enjoyed during celebrations, and then creates the best leftover sandwiches the day after. Some may argue that Spiral Cut Hams are better than the day-of Ham.
