This easy apple tree math activity is perfect for kids who are learning to add or multiply. Set up is easy, and kids will love this hands on approach to early math.
This easy math activity is perfect for introducing early learners to addition, or helping older kids understand multiplication in a hands on way.
This activity is so easy to set up. All you need is two cans of play doh and some beads. I also used small wooden numbers from the craft section of Dollar Tree for this activity.
First roll a can of brown play doh into the shape of a tree trunk.
Next roll out a can of green play doh to form the leaves of a tree. Place this on top of the trunk.
Now, press two numbers into the doh.
Place some buttons or beads around the tree you just made.
I used 4+2 for the younger kids and 4×2 for the older kids.
Invite your child to press the correct number of buttons of beads into the doh.
Then have your child count the buttons or beads.
This is a really great way to bring math to life and make it hands on for little learners. When we make the lesson fun, kids are more interested in jumping into the lesson!
I hope you enjoyed this easy math lesson with play doh.
Thank you,
