I wanted to introduce you to a new children’s book called And She Was Live Toni Morrison’s Life In Stories. here is a tip I would like to share with you. As a parent I wasn’t sure who Toni Morrison was. If we had been #Homeschooling I would have had Charlie research Toni Morrison before reading the book.

I was surprised to find out she was a Author. If I had been creating a Lesson Plan I would have added some of her books to our Homeschool Must have Reading List for both Charlie and I to read. Then Charlie and I would have checked out thing she did in here life. A

I wish you could see the cover of the book in person with the vibrant blues/ purples and the pretty little girl on the cover with the pencil in her hair. Like her I’ve had pencils in my hair when working. Have you ever done that?

After Charlie and I finished reading And She Was Loved Toni Morrison’s Life In Stories we learned Toni Morrison was a visionary, storyteller, daughter, and a mother. She was also a Howard Graduate which we should congratulate her on. And She Was Loved Toni Morrison’s Life In Stories is a children’s story book but the writing reminds me of a Poem.

Another fact we learned about Toni Morrison was she born in Lorian, Ohio which would have been another #State for us to study when Charlie was #homeschooling full time. I don’t know about you but I enjoy learning about new States so we will be checking out Lorian, Ohio soon. If you know anything about the State leave me a comment with what you know.

Toni Morrison was the second child out of 4.. Did you know her name Toni means “Blooming Floret” and through the years she proved her name many times over. Toni Morrison was the only black girl in her 1st grade class. I can relate to that because growing up in Watauga , Texas I don’t remember any black people in my School. How about your School? In College which was Howard University Toni who had another name up until then changed her name to Toni.

I love how And She Was Loved Toni Morriosn’s Life In Stories teaches us lessons throughout the book. At the end of the book is how the poem came to be which will inspire everyone who reads the Poem and hopefully share it with there friends and family.

I also enjoyed the Authors note she included in the book. I hope And She Was Loved Toni Morrison’s Story is shared in schools around the world. Not only will elementary age children enjoy the story older children and adults can learn from the things the Author shares with us allowing us to get to know Toni Morriosns.

About:

Black History Month falls in February and even though today is officially the first day of March learning should happen year round which is why I am excited to share a new children’s book with you AND SHE WAS LOVED: Toni Morrison’s Life by New York Times bestselling author and multiple Coretta Scott King Award recipient Andrea Davis Pinkney and illustrated by Coretta Scott King Illustration Honoree Daniel Minter

About the book:

AND SHE WAS LOVED: Toni Morrison’s Life by New York Times bestselling author and multiple Coretta Scott King Award recipient Andrea Davis Pinkney and illustrated by Coretta Scott King Illustration Honoree Daniel Minter (on sale now; ages 4-8, nonfiction biography): This poetic picture book is part love letter and part biography, praising the power of this beloved and revered Nobel Prize winner. Like many others, Andrea thought of Toni as an inspiration when dreaming of being an author, and she was fortunate to make contact with her literary idol, who then became a mentor as she grew in her career. But there’s even more! In addition to being an author, Andrea is also a publishing professional and was the editor of Toni’s picture books. Having looked up to Toni to becoming a friend, mentee, and eventually, editor, makes this an incredibly personal and special project for her.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
