I was lucky a couple weeks ago when David and Charlie agreed to go to the Movies with me to see American Underdog. Even though Charlie had seen the Trailer on the Theater when we went to see Spider-Man No Way Home, Charlie wasn’t too happy to see a movie about Football. If it was Basketball, it would have been a different story.
I looked up Rave or Cinemark in Hurst and also Movie Tavern and we decided to go back to Rave which is Charlie’s favorite theater because it’s by Northeast Mall in Hurst, Texas. Once we arrived and purchase tickets David went and got Snacks as Charlie and I went on up to the Third Floor on the Escalator as we didn’t want to use the Stairs.
With Charlie and I both being scared of heights I was afraid one or both of us wouldn’t be able to make it upstairs, but we did fine and was able to get our favorite seats which we pick before going inside. It was sad to see the Theater empty which is due to Covid.
The movie began and before I knew it Charlie was so engrossed in the movie and didn’t speak throughout the film which is unusual for Charlie. I saw Charlie laughing and almost crying and David as well. As for me we all know I cried, and I admit it.
Not only that I sang throughout the film because I loved the Soundtrack and would have loved to meet the son in person. Seeing what happened to the parents in the Film has led to new Homeschooling Lessons and even a PE Dance Class.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch American Underdog you should and it’s a perfect Family Friendly Film which we plan on adding to our Library and as soon as we do David wants to loan my film to his parents because he thinks his dad will like the movie as much as I did.
The story will teach you that you can overcome anything you set your mind to and that tomorrow isn’t PROMISHED but no, matter how hard things become don’t give up on your dreams because one day through hard work and the Lord your dreams can come true.
Which has made Charlie even more determined to become a better Basketball player and to go out for a team which he didn’t want to do before watching the movie. For David the move reminded him how fragile our family is and had made him reach out to his older kids and to make time for his parents which he used to not do.
As for me the movie has reminded me that even though we lose the people we love they are still with us each and every day guiding us through life. It’s also helped me overcome some of my fears and helped me venture out more instead of becoming a recluse locked inside my home.
The inspirational true story of Kurt Warner, who overcomes years of challenges and setbacks to become a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. Just when his dreams seem all but out of reach, it’s only with the support of his wife, Brenda, and the encouragement of his family, coaches and teammates that Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is.
