Alyssa and Juanita asked me to go to the movies with them next week for a Girls Night Out. I thought that would be fun until they told me they wanted to see IT CHAPTER TWO.
Alyssa and Juanita wanted to see IT CHAPTER TWO at Alamo DraftHouse and I might go with them but I will have dinner in the Bar while they watch the movie.
As soon as they said they was seeing IT CHAPTER TWO I let them know I would be coming. I don’t watch Horror films or do Haunted Houses of any kind. I let them know they could take David and Charlie and I would stay home.
I’ve always liked Stephen King and I’ve followed his films but I didn’t want them because a lot of them are Scary. David does and now that Charlie is older he wants to as well.
I can’t wait to share Different Seasons with David because I want to see if he will take Charlie and his friends to see some of these movies while I stay home and work. If Charlie has to depend on me taking him to these films isn’t going to work.

RAISE HELL: THE LIFE & TIMES OF MOLLY IVINS is one film I am waiting to come out. Because I like knowing she is from Texas just as I am and I wan’t to see what all MOLLY IVINS does. |
A MOVING LOOK AT MOLLY IVINS, AN ICONIC FIGURE IN JOURNALISM. Molly Ivins was not your typical political reporter. Brash, witty, and standing six-foot-tall, this Texan firebrand spent her 40-year career fighting corruption, defending free speech, and making all the right enemies. A pioneering woman in a male-dominated field, she skewered the good old boys’ system with her incisive writing and her gift for deploying a well-timed bon mot torpedo on her targets. A sharp and heartfelt look at her incredible life, RAISE HELL features interviews with Molly’s admirers, both public and personal. Rachel Maddow and Dan Rather show up to sing her praises, set alongside archival footage of her doing what she does best – speaking for herself. By turns moving and hilarious, it’s a candid portrait of a reporter who shined with moral clarity, even while matching legislators drink for drink. An inspiring documentary about an inspired life, it’ll leave you wanting to pick up where Molly left off. |

Fantastic Fest is the ultimate movie experience for Movie Lovers which is what I am. I didn’t see any Films I wanted to see because the theme of the movies isn’t films I usually watch. But a ticket would be a nice Gift for David and also my niece Alyssa and her husband my nephew David M. because they all enjoy these films and would let them spend time together. |
A SECOND HALF badge guarantees you a seat at all time slots during during the second half of Fantastic Fest (not necessarily your first choice film in each slot).
The way the festival is programmed, we try to play almost all of the films in the first 4 days and then again in the second 4 days, so if you purchase a SECOND HALF festival badge, you will still get the chance to see just about everything from the festival line-up.
Good for any screening Monday-Thursday, the SECOND HALF festival badge also includes access to all of the Fantastic Fest parties in the 2nd-half of the fest, including the closing night party.

Downtown Abby OPENS SEPTEMBER 20TH the other night we was at Alamo DraftHouse to watch the Grease Sing-Along when the trailer came on for Downtown Abby.
David surprised me when he said he would like to come back and watch Downtown Abby. Being a show on TV that I never watched I need to see if I can rent the movies at the Library so David and I will know what is happening when we see Downtown Abby because I also want to see Downtown Abby.

ABOUT
With its affectionate portrait of an aristocratic family and their household staff, Downton Abbey became one of the most beloved television series of all time.
And now the Crawleys and the downstairs gang are back in their very own feature-length film for one more dramatic look at a bygone era.
When last we saw them, it seemed like the family and staff at Downton Abbey had been through just about everything one could imagine, from death to marriage to heartbreak to war, and everything in between. But they still have one last surprise in store for them: a visit from the royal family.
Everyone is back, from the downstairs (Carson, Mrs. Hughes, Thomas, Bates, and Anna) to the upstairs (Lord and Lady Grantham, Mary, Edith, and, of course, the Dowager Countess). There will be drama. There will be heartache. There will be more pointed barbs than you can shake a croquet mallet at. Join us for one last visit to DOWNTON ABBEY.

SYLVESTER STALLONE RETURNS FOR ONE LAST MISSION INTO HELL.
This new, final chapter in the legendary ’80s action franchise finds John Rambo as a solitary old veteran, alone on his Arizona ranch save for the circling demons of his blood-soaked past.
But when a friend’s granddaughter goes missing in Mexico, the beefy septuagenarian heads south on a rescue mission only to find a violent world of kidnapping, sex-trafficking, and power-crazed cartel lords. Will he make it out alive, armed only with his wits, crossbow, and many, many guns?
Co-written by Sly Stallone himself and directed by action vet Adrian Grunburg (GET THE GRINGO), this gory, vengeful update redefines the parameters for “gritty reboot.”
John Rambo draws from a lifetime of combat to rain down hell on his enemies, and even uses his cunning to rig up a HOME ALONE-style series of brutal booby traps. Just because he’s haunted by the past doe
RAMBO MARATHON
EVERYONE GETS TO WIN THIS TIME.
When it comes to action movies, there are few names that inspire more joy and/or fist-pumping than John Rambo, the iconic action hero played by the legendary Sylvester Stallone. And he’s back for one last adventure.
Rather than put on a burlap sack and run around in the forest with a giant knife like we very much want to do right now, we’ve decided to instead channel our enthusiasm about RAMBO: LAST BLOOD into a much healthier-sounding movie marathon where we’ll screen every single RAMBO film up to and including his final appearance.
FIRST BLOOD set the bar high, with its empathetic story of a soldier who ends up doing battle with a small-town police department.
RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II showed us Rambo returning to the jungles of Vietnam.
RAMBO III (the naming conventions totally make sense, don’t question it) took Rambo to the deserts of Afghanistan before we finally saw him in RAMBO trying to live his life in peace before being drawn into a humanitarian crisis.
RAMBO: LAST BLOOD finds John Rambo back home in America, trying to enjoy the peace that always seems to elude him. But yet again, war finds him.
Join us for a full day of nonstop badassery with one of the greatest action stars who ever lived playing one of the greatest action characters ever created as we prepare ourselves for RAMBO: LAST BLOOD.

Primary Colors: The Films of Pedro Almodóvar |
Celebrating the release of Almodóvar’s critically acclaimed and deeply personal PAIN AND GLORY. ABOUT “Color idealizes an object and gives it an artificial value I like. I believe this artifice in the objects, the walls, the decor, the clothes…that reveals and singles out the characters in my films. It also completely isolates what interests me most in my films: the story itself and the characters’ emotions.” – Pedro Almodóvar, 1992 For decades, director Pedro Almodóvar has pushed the boundaries of modern cinema with his exuberant visual style and sometimes shocking material. This year, he returns with one of the best films of his career, the critically acclaimed and deeply personal PAIN AND GLORY. To celebrate his latest masterwork, we’re showcasing some of our favorite films of his. In them, you can find all of the hallmarks of his work: his compassion and curiosity for people on the fringes of society, his dynamic camerawork, his delicate balance of tragedy and comedy, and, of course, his eye-popping use of color. These films, along with his latest work PAIN AND GLORY, add up to one of the most dazzling, powerful, entertaining, and important bodies of work that any director has ever built. Join us as we pay tribute to one of the masters of cinema. |
