Before we begin the weekend, I wanted to share a new children’s book with you. It’s called ABC I Love You by Candice Warren and Maggie Fischer Illustrated by Grace Habib from Silver Dolphin Books which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.
My niece Alexandria and her brother Joe are twins and will be turning 3 this year. Their mother hasn’t been teaching them their ABC’s or anything, but my mother-in-law will be keeping them some this Summer. Granny Sherry is planning on working with them to teach them their ABC’s and how to write their names.
As well as teaching them to stay in their seats as they will be going to Pre-School soon. Sherry has asked Charlie to help her teach them which is perfect and can work with Charlie’s Homeschool Home Economics Class as he can use it for Home Economics and his Health Class. As well as show him what being a teacher would be like.
Charlie has been gathering books to read to the Twins and this morning I handed Charlie ABC, I Love You which will show them their ABC’s and give them the opportunity to learn the letters and show them what they look like so Charlie can get them to write their letters. Then Charlie let me know he is going to use the pictures in the book to create a Scavenger Hunt and use the letters and items in the book for the children to find not only inside Granny’s home but outside, so they get fresh air.
Charlie and I loved the cover of the book and Charlie has been fun drawing the hearts he saw on the cover and turning them into pictures for the Twins. Did you see the Butterfly which tells us this book is full of love. As for A they mention dimples which you cannot find around you so the kids will have to walk through the house with Charlie and see if anyone has dimples. Which I don’t know anyone in our family who does. Do you or someone you know have dimples?
B is for being brave and learning their letters makes the twins brave, doesn’t it? E is for energetic, and Twins are this all the time and Charlie is going to explain when there dancing, they will be energetic. With this book being based more on feelings Charlie is going to use it in his health class and show everyone what the Author is sharing with us.
Then the next day Charlie and the twins will make their own book based on the ABC’s and use things they can see and touch while walking through the house and the neighborhood which keeps them learning over and over. Later in the Summer if Granny feels like it we can even take a Field Trip to the Zoo and bring the book to read during lunch time and look for animals beginning with the letters in the alphabet.

Meet the Authers:
Candace Warren is a designer, creator of novelty book formats, and occasional author. She and her husband live in Connecticut, where they tend a large flower garden that hosts hummingbirds and numerous varieties of frogs.
Maggie Fischer is originally from Oregon, but now lives in Seattle, Washington, after receiving her B.A. in English from Gonzaga University. The daughter of a children’s librarian, Maggie has grown up surrounded by books and feels impossibly lucky to write and edit books for kids. She spends her time trying not to get worried about the increasing number of crows in her backyard, petting her enormous cat, Finch, and drinking more coffee than is probably healthy.
Grace Habib was born in the suburbs of Chicago to immigrant parents. Her mom was from Seoul, South Korea, and her father is from Beirut, Lebanon. Living with two different ethnic backgrounds, her life was enriched with art, food, and culture. Ever since she was a little girl, Grace has loved to draw animals, and her parents encouraged her to follow her passion in art. She graduated with honors with a BFA in illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design. She worked as a children’s greeting card designer at American Greetings for more than four years, and now she is freelancing. In her free time, she loves to find new places to eat, travel, and find the cutest coffee shops near by. She has two mini dachshunds named Olive and Copper.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
