Disclosure: I got A Wonderful Day to Smile and to Dare as part of an advertorial.
With there being less than 60 days left in this school year. I have been working really hard to make sure Charlie will be ready for first grade. One way I am doing this is by finding children’s books that challenge Charlie in reading. As I don’t want Charlie to struggle in school like his dad and his sister Suzzane did.
I hated knowing Suzzane was having trouble reading as it is one of my favorite things to do that we could have shared. I ended up getting Suzzane help through Sylvan. As for David he wasn’t ever able to get the help he needs to learn to read or write or even spell. Which is horrible as it affects him in all areas of his life.
I would like to let you know I found a new children’s book called A Wonderful Day to Smile and To Dare which I sat down with Charlie to read as I wanted to see how well Charlie could read A Wonderful Day to Smile and to Dare.
When Suzzane was here, I had to home school here as she was having so much trouble in school. As for Suzzane the sad thing is she was not able to graduate as she was killed. Although I know she would have as she was determined to not let anything get in her way and would study 3 times harder than anyone else.
As for Charlie as he comes home from school each day, I work with him, and I noticed the children’s books his teacher was sending home where ones Charlie wasn’t even paying attention to.
Charlies’ teacher kept sending the same books home again and again and again. With her doing this it caused Charlie to get bored with those books and to refuse to read them. I decided I would find our own children’s books for Charlie to read.
I was online I decided to check out a website called Tomoson. While on there I found a children’s book called A Wonderful Day to Smile and to Dare. This children’s book is written for children between the ages of 3 and 8.
I knew Charlie should be able to read it and that it would help with Charlies reading. I am so glad I am a part of Tomoson as it has helped my family out in so many ways by allowing us to find new and unique items to check out and use.
Before I share my thoughts with you on A Wonderful Day to Smile and to Dare, I would like to let you know I was sent a code for A Wonderful Day to Smile and to Dare but that the thoughts in this review are all mine and mine alone.
I sat down with Charlie, and I opened the file for A Wonderful Day to Smile and to Dare and I let Charlie read the book and it was nice to see that he did not struggle with it the way he does with some other children’s books I have purchased for Charlie to read.
Charlie loved the cover of A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare as well as the colors they used to illustrate the cover with. I asked Charlie if he would like for me to purchase a copy of A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare for him and he said yes. Which to me means A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare was a success.
I also think A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare would make a nice addition for his teacher as well as for the library at school. Charlies has a friend Emma whose Birthday is coming up soon.
Charlie is wanting me to purchase a copy of A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare for her. As Charlie and I think Emma would enjoy enjoy A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare as much as Charlie and I have.
I loved how A Wonderful Day to Smile, and Dare discusses fears in a fun and unique way because eve parents have fears and can be afraid of things. I’m afraid of snakes. I was able to share my fears with Charlie as read A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare.
Later that day I saw Charlie get A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare and read it to his dad. As well as show his dad some of the things the little girl was afraid of.
Which allowed David and Charlie to discuss the things Charlie is afraid of. As well as any fears David faces. l think other dads should take the time to read to their children as it allows them you to create special memories.
When dads read books like A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare books with their children it makes them more reachable and not so standoffish or perfect. Or at least it would have for me when I was a child as my dad was very gruff and strict. He did not hug or tell us he loved us even though we know he did. Or play with us as he was always too busy, he said.
With us purchasing Charlie a new bed and him getting ready to move into his own room it was nice to see that A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare covered monsters as Charlie has had issues with them in the past and it is why he does not sleep in his own room.
Although since reading A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare Charlie says he is willing to try and sleep in his own room. I just hope A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare n helps and Charlie is able to conquer his fears.
If you have not read A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare, I hope you take the time to check it out not only for your children but yourself as well. As for me I will be searching to see if this Author has written any other books as I would like to have Charlie and I read them as well.
Overview: A Wonderful Day to Smile and Dare- eBook empowering kids ages 3-8 to overcome fears and difficulties
A little girl dares to face her fears, and takes a good look at the monsters that scare her – she finds their weak spot and defeats them, using courage and humor:
The rhymes and funny illustrations in this little story are right up the ally of Dr. Seuss lovers, inspiring kids to face their fears and doubts instead of feeling powerless to resolve them.
Overcoming fears, doubts and unpleasant emotions
Everybody has it tough sometimes, when fears and doubts stop us from doing what we want, there’s nothing new there. The way that we face these fears and doubts and find inner strength to overcome them – that’s what counts!
We as parents love to think about our kids’ childhood as happy and free of worries, but we do know that every kid is sometimes burdened by fears, doubts and unpleasant emotions, things like:
- Fear of scary creatures – “There’s a monster under the bed!”
Frustration triggered by failing – “Doesn’t matter how much I try – I just can’t do that!”
Despair due to low self-esteem – “I’m a loser, I’ll never be a good player”
As a result, our kids sometimes choose to avoid situations that trigger these things because they feel powerless to change them. The good news is that we’re not powerless – we can choose to beat these “monsters” – all we need is to observe them with courage and humor.
In my efforts to find a way to help my kids meet their difficulties and resolve them, I developed a process that worked beautifully in achieving just that. The effectiveness of the process inspired me to write this book, encapsulating its principles in rhymes and images, hoping that other kids may benefit from it.
