A to Z Blogging Challenge Letter A

The Mommies Reviews

Good morning. Welcome to April Fool’s Day. As we move forward into April I wanted to bring you my post for April Blogging from A to Z Challenge and this is the first post in the A to Z Blogging Challenge Letter A.

I chose a theme for my challenge this year and I will be sharing foods and recipes beginning with the letter of the Day. This morning I decided I would share a Apple Pie with you.

Before you check out the recipe I thought I would share something from my childhood with you. My father always worked and it was hard to get one on one time with him.

When we did he was always strict and by the book. We had to always eat breakfast and dinner we as a family. We wasn’t allowed to have DESSERT before dinner ever.

As my dad got older and Suzzane was born things changed and there was many times my dad would come to visit and for breakfast he would ask for Apple Pie and Ice Cream.

Since my dad would eat dessert for breakfast there was a lot of times when Suzzane and my nephew David and I would eat dessert for breakfast and now that Charlie is getting older we do the same things.

Now, I have a question for you have you ever eaten dessert for breakfast? If so what did you have and why?

Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

8 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Pastry for double-crust pie (9 inches)

Directions:

In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Combine sugars and spice with apples and mix well until the apples are coated.

Add apples to one pie crust, add second crust to the top, cut a small slit in the top and sprinkle with a little sugar.

Bake for 25-30 minutes at 375 degrees.

Now, excuse me before I make a Apple Pie for my family I need to purchase some Pie Pans so excuse me while I visit Amazon and see what I can find to bake my Apple Pie in.

I chose the Pyrex Glass Bakeware Pie Plate 9″ x 1.2

Inside this post is my affiliate links if you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage of the items you purchase.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates

  1. I’ve had cake or pie for breakfast with a glass of milk. Several times. I’ve also made a breakfast of Oreos or Chips Ahoy and a mug of milk to dunk it in.
