A to Z Blog Challenge Letter O Onion Rings

I am back this morning for the A to Z Blog Challenge Letter O Onion Rings. I like the Onion Rings you can purchase at What A Burger or Dairy Queen. When I was in High School, I lived in Dairy Queen because there was a Dairy Queen  across the street from my school.Image result for picture of Whataburger Onion Rings

My parents wouldn’t give me much money for lunch so I would buy a Ice Cram Sandwich a could days a week and save the rest of my money so I could purchase Onion Rings a couple of times a week.

I have a question for you. Do you like Onion Rings? If so where do you purchase the Onion Rings from and why? Or do you make Onion Rings at home from scratch? If so can you share your recipes with me because  I would like to make Homemade Onion Rings just once.

When I fix Onion Rings at home, I end up using Frozen Onion Rings. I’m sure Homemade ones would taste so much better. I looked online and found a recipes I wanted to share with you this way we can make our own Onion Rings.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings Recipe

Recipe makes three servings

One large onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

One teaspoon baking powder

One teaspoon salt

One egg

1 cup milk, or as needed

3/4 cup dry breadcrumbs

seasoned salt to taste

1-quart oil for frying, or as needed

 Directions
    1. Heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).
    2. Separate the onion slices into rings, and set aside. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    3. Dip the onion slices into the flour mixture until they are all coated; set aside. Whisk the egg and milk into the flour mixture using a fork. Dip the floured rings into the batter to coat, then place on a wire rack to drain until the dough stops dripping. The wire rack may set over a sheet of aluminum foil for easier cleanup. Spread the breadcrumbs out on a plate or shallow dish. Place rings one at a time into the crumbs, and scoop the crumbs up over the ring to coat. Give it a hard tap as you remove it from the crumbs. The coating should cling very well. Repeat with remaining rings.
    4. Deep fry the rings a few at a time for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove to paper towels to drain. Season with seasoning salt, and serve.
