I would like to share a new book A Collection of Short Stories & Poems written by Gary E Smith which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.
Homeschooling a High Schooler means you need to teach a Poetry Class and in our class my family is reading A Collection of Short Stories & Poems in the evening before we sit down to watch a movie together.
I like how you can start in where in the book and not be lost. The first poem Charlie wanted to read was On The Road with Annie because it was about a Dog and they were traveling in a Motor Home which Charlie and I would like to do one day.You must read On The Road with Anne to see what all the couple staying there traveled with.
I love how in the book we see the kindness of a stranger that might have saved a young women’s life. Allowing me to talk to Charlie about why no, matter what is happening in the world we should always be kind and help others even if it can be scary at times or get us in trouble.
Charlie and I loved flipping through the book and looking through the pictures while reading the descriptions and what they meant not only to the Author but to ourselves bringing us closer together as a family.

This is a book of short stories of everyday human emotional experiences. Stories of profound loss. Stories of great friendships. Stories of growing old with a dog, of going to War, and of course, stories of deep romantic love. I hope the stories encourage the reader to do some introspection on what it means to be human. I believe the poems, like all art, will mean more to some than to others.

I was born in 1948. I enjoyed being alone and living in a world of pretending made up with my imagination. My favorite thing to do was to observe people and their reaction to situations. I especially liked their interactions with other people.
