My Little Thief

The Mommies Reviews

I wanted to share a new children’s book My Little Thief by Augusten Burrough and illustrated by Bonnie Lui which I received a copy of in exchange for a copy of the physical book.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see My Little Thief in person you’re missing out. The little red haired girl on the front of the book is so cute and the smile on her face makes me want to become her friend as soon as possible. Charlie liked her vest and I liked her green hat which I wish I could make for myself.

Charlie thought it was funny to see the Crow on her head with a piece of jewelry in his mouth. Charlie thought it would be a nice piece to turn into a necklace for his Aunt Debbie to wear to Church. If it was me and the Crow gave me this piece of jewelry, I would have turned it into a broch/pin. How about you?

Charlie and I were amazed to find out this story take places from true events. Can you believe that? I love how the book takes us into the little girl’s life telling us what she liked and doesn’t like which Charlie and I could relate to although we both like Birds inside and outside of cages. How about you?

Charlie and I can’t wait to go on a walk this evening to look for a Crow to see if we can turn him into a friend sharing our snack with him. Would you like to come on our walk with us? If you don’t want to walk through the neighborhood, we could go to the Zoo and look for Crows which we can study in our Homeschool Science Class.

An unforgettable story of friendship between a curious girl with a rich imagination and a winged thief with a very big heart.

Chloe loves many things—Bugs, the dark, and especially broken or forgotten objects. But she doesn’t seem to care for Birds. When a mischievous Crow appears in her backyard, Chloe steps out of her comfort zone and offers the curious creature a bite of her lunch. In return, Crow brings Chloe a beautiful button.

Inspired by a true account of an unexpected friendship between a young girl and a Crow, this thoughtful story explores misunderstandings and the value of everyday treasures.
