The Wish List

Adult Book Recomendations

This is a review for what people would refer to as a Christmas Book. The Wish List (Book #4 in the The Carolina Girls Series) written by  Michelle Major. I purchased this novel at Walmart’s.

The Wish List (Book #4) is book 4 in the Carolina Girls series, and I have no, clue if these stories need to be read in order or can be a standalone read which I can’t wait to find out. If you know me at all I usually will not watch Christmas Movies or read books about Christmas before November 1st. When we do the stories detects from Christmas. Do you read or watch Christmas Movies and books all year or just certain times of the year like I do and why?

In The Wish List you will see the Author created the Town which I wouldn’t mind living in. Would you like to become my neighbor? The Wish List follows three estranged sisters who have gathered at their hometown around the holidays following their narcissistic mother’s stroke. As the holiday season unfolds, they will confront their pasts and find new paths forward.

I would like to let you know The Wish List deals with heavy themes around abuse and neglect from the past. Along with family drama and their mother’s stroke. The Wish List manages to stay hopeful throughout. The Wish List is a story of redemption and forgiveness at the heart of it all, and the 3 sisters each have their own stories that capture the heart and spirit of the season. While I would have loved to stay more in-depth with one of the sisters, each of their stories brought something special to the table.

When you read the back cover and or begin to read The Wish List you may think it’s a romance but its more or a chick-lit fiction ie women’s fiction although there is clean-cut romance inside, The Wish List can become an emotional roller coaster with equal parts humor and sadness. Make sure you have plenty of time to read this novel which you will not want to put down.

About:

“Major’s charming small town is packed with salt-of-the-Earth people readers will embrace, and each sister’s journey is beautifully imagined. Readers will eagerly await their next visit to this idyllic community.”–Publishers Weekly This Christmas the Carlyle sisters will rediscover the gift of family.

For some families, a Christmas reunion is like a feel-good movie. For Beth Carlyle, it might be more of a disaster epic. Her ex-husband’s new girlfriend is already pregnant. Her self-absorbed, bestselling author mother recently suffered a stroke and has summoned Beth’s sisters, Freya and Trinity–neither of whom even seem to like Beth very much–back to Magnolia. Beth’s so lonely and stressed that she spills her guts to a stranger, wondering why the handsome newcomer affects her so deeply.

Reality TV star Freya deliberately forged a career that would upset her mother, who’s always been as brilliant as the Sun…and just as distant. Now a handsome literary agent is making Freya dream of a different life.

As for Trinity, she just wants to start over after leaving an abusive relationship and make a future for her and her baby. It’ll be a Christmas like no other in Magnolia. But the Carlyle sisters might find they have more in common than their shared past–and that the holidays are made for second chances.

Includes a bonus holiday novella set in Magnolia! The Carolina Girls Book 1: Wildflower Season Book 2: Mistletoe Season Book 3: Wedding Season and A Lot Like Christmas.

About Michelle

I was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and for as long as I can remember I’ve loved books. Growing up, I wrote stories and plays and graduated with a degree in Journalism from Ohio University.

By then I’d also fallen in love with the Mountains. After college I pointed my ancient Honda West until I came to Colorado. I worked on a Dude Ranch and then spent a few months camping through the Southwestern part of the State until I found a real job and settled along the Front Range. Technically, I might have been homeless but that hardly seemed to matter while sleeping under the stars.

I began a decade-long career in Human Resources and traveled across the Country for work. With my fear of flying, I needed something to distract me on all those planes. I picked up a Julia Quinn novel in an airport bookstore and was hooked. It dawned on me that the stories milling around in my head were actually romance plots. My passion for fiction writing was born.

I sold my first book in 2013 and have since written more than thirty stories of hope, healing and happily-ever-after. I have the best job in the world as well as the best family, which includes a patient husband, two darling (mostly) teenagers and a menagerie of misbehaved animals.

My family fills my heart and writing feeds my soul.

Thank you,
