The LORD blessed me this week when I received a Press Release with an interview opportunity for Angela Bell. I briefed the email and went back to work. Something kept nagging at me, telling me I should respond to the email.
I didn’t know if they would accept the opportunity for them to speak to me. When they said yes, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off me. The phone rang and the guys went outside so I could speak freely. Learning more about Angela and her family as she is a mom to twins I wondered how she could do all she does.
I knew it was from love which can be heard in her voice when she speaks not only about her business but her family. We began to chat and I found myself saying “WOW” so many times. I was blessed with the tips she gave me about “Transitioning From Corporate to Work At Home” before you say you do work at home.
Yes, I do and I’ve been blessed to be able to for 15 years but before that I did work in Corporate America. I was a single mom and I had to take my daughter to work with me. I knew when I had Charlie things had to change which is how this blog began.
The LORD has been telling me again and again in so many ways I needed a Mentor / Coach for help on the blog. As moms we can only do so much. Yes, there are free mentors and coaches but we need to treat our businesses like a business.
It’s okay to invest in our company and no, it isn’t going to take away from our family. This will allow us to be more present in not only our personal lives but our work. The more I listened to the tips she shared the more I knew the LORD brought her into my life to show me it would be fine to spend money.
The LORD knows our needs before we do and now that I’ve found Angela Bell I know I can turn my hobby into a business. I will still struggle at times and become distracted but it’s okay as long as I ask for help. Which can be a friend online or off-line, my family or even a Coach or Mentor.
No matter where the LORD takes my business and my family in the New Year I learned so much through Angel. I can’t wait to join her groups to help keep not only myself on track but my friends and family as well.
Here is tips she shared with me being watch throughout the year to see how I prepare for changes in our lives:
- Be prepared. Set a budget and set aside enough money for at least one month of your bills just in case something happens and you don’t have income for a while. For me personally I would like to have 3 months to give us a cushion. Is this possible? Not the way we’re living but if we change then yes, it can and will be done.
- Next is to create a list of 100 people and before you ask me if I know that many people I don’t think so. But you can bet your bottom dollar I’m starting that list today and anytime I think of anyone I am adding them to this list. I’m going to get their contact info and set up meetings with them in two months to see what they are doing and share what I’m doing and why. Which is going to let me create a much needed tribe.
- I’m going to keep a Coach or Mentor from now on out and I will be using them all the time. As well as getting Charlie a coach/ mentor for school so he has someone besides just me to talk to and help him out. Giving me time for myself and David.
- I’m going to invest in myself even if it’s taking an hour a week for myself to go and have a cup of Coffee with a friend or even by myself so I can breathe and re-group which not only moms should do but Dads as well. I am going to make time for David who always gets pushed aside.
I would like to ask you to put these rules in your journal for next year and let me know how you implement them in your life. Then take the opportunity to check out her book Mom Magic Mompreneur: The Magic of Motherhood and How It’s Changing the World at Barnes & Noble. I hope you do because it will be life changing not only for you but your family as well. Along with your business and your personal life.
I’m excited to let you know you can get a copy of Mompreneur Journal for free. Before you ask…. You can bet your bottom dollar I’ve already gotten my journal as well as shared the information with my sister and my business partner so they can get their own journal.
