Cook Something Bold Day– always observed on November 8th
According to its creator, of the website Wellcat.com, Cook Something Bold Day is designed to encourage us to cook something bold and daring. A dish that will fill up the house with warm, “homey” odors. Cook Something Bold Day is celebrated in November. Houses are closed up for the Winter, which will allow the house to capture the cooking smells.
This is not a holiday to prepare something simple and easy to make. Rather, it is a holiday to be daring. In keeping with the concept for Cook Something Bold Day you get bonus points for cooking something that fills the house with pleasant aromas.

How to Celebrate Cook Something Bold Day
Today is not a day to make Scrambled Eggs, Hamburgers on the grill, or Spaghetti. As the title of this day suggests, be bold and daring.

Dunce Day– always observed on November 8th
Dunce Day celebrates the term “Dunce” and dunce caps. Today marks the death (November 8, 1308) of medieval scholar Duns Scotus of Duns, Scotland. Dunce Day is all about learning and one’s ability to absorb knowledge. Let’s get right to it and learn about dunce caps and their creator.
Duns Scotus of Duns, Scotland was a Medieval scholar. Perceptions of his views ranged from brilliant to less than complimentary. Duns Scotus believed that cone-shaped hats increased learning potential. He believed knowledge would flow from the point of the cap, down, and into the head of the wearer, making that person smarter.
About all this accomplished over time, was the perception of a person wearing a dunce cap to be a stupid person or a dimwit. Why else would someone wear a dunce cap!? There was a positive side to the use of dunce caps. Dunce caps motivated the wearer to learn more, so he could be rid of the cap. Scholar critics of his work derived the term “dunce” from his name and place of birth.

When is the U.S. General Election? Voting day U.S. General Election
Today is the U.S. General Election Day. You should get out and vote today. It’s your right and duty as an American citizen. Voting is a revolution. A peaceful one, where the majority rules!!
The General election is held every four years. Each year, different federal, State, and local elections are held. Once every four years, we get the opportunity to elect a new President. Every six years, we elect our U.S. Senators. We elect U.S. Congressmen every two years.
Our founding fathers designed the elections as an opportunity for us to vote for the people we want to represent us and our beliefs. We can choose to retain the good elected officials, and oust those whose performance is poor. Or whose beliefs do not match the majority of the people of this Country. While Democracy may not be perfect, it’s better than any other type of government on the planet. Democracy offers us freedoms and safeguards that do not exist in many other Countries.
Our founding fathers had the wisdom to create a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It is every American’s right and privilege, to vote for our government officials. We hope you exercise your right on this day, to vote for the candidate of your choice.
While apathy and discontent can creep into even the best of Societies, we believe that makes it even more important for us TO VOTE. If we don’t vote, how can we make things better!?
Please exercise your inalienable right and go out and vote on U.S. General Election Day!

History and Origin of the First U.S. Presidential Election
The Revolutionary War ended on September 3rd, 1783. Immediately after the war Was won, the fledgling new Country held a Constitutional Congress. After the Constitution was written ad approved by Congress, it went to the 13 States for ratification. Upon ratification, the new Constitution set January 7th, 1789, as the date for each new State to send electors to vote for our first president. On February 4th, 1789, George Washington was unanimously elected the first President of the United States.
Young Readers Day second Tuesday of the month
Young Readers Day is today. Reading opens up a lifetime of knowledge, information, success, and happiness. According to the creators of National Young Readers Day, a holiday to recognize the joys and benefits of reading.”
Grade schools around the Country take advantage of National Young Readers Day, to promote the importance of reading. Use today to help and encourage our youth to learn to read, and open the door to knowledge, information, success, and happiness.

Young Readers Day was co-founded in 1989 by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
While Young Readers Day is referred to by some as a “National” Holiday, we did not find any Presidential proclamation or act of congress.
