Charlie and I will be starting a Poetry Class soon. I can’t wait to share An Imaginary Affair: Poems whispered to Neruda with Charlie for him to use in his Homeschool Language Arts Class and Reading Class.

I read the Authors Biography my heart went out to her after learning her grandmother committed suicide. I know people do this all the time but I would never have thought a grandparent would have. Would you think that. I was torn on sharing this information with Charlie. Since we were going to read the book together I sat Charlie down and we talked about Suicide and the Authors grandparents. Which Charlie shared with his dad David who was also surprised to find out a grandparent would kill themselves.

I loved the Bookmark and feather on the end of it which Charlie wanted to take off and hang up in his room. After reading what the bookmark said Charlie decided he would keep it for himself. Which wasn’t fair.

Charlie and I read through the table of contents. Charlie picked out “Please Don’t Forget About Me” which allowed Charlie and I to discuss how it felt when my mom and dad passed away. As well as Suzzane. Charlie and I talked about what would happen if one of us passed away and how we would cope with it.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to read An Imaginary Affair: Poems whispered to Neruda I hope you do soon because this is the perfect book for anyone dealing with loss or grief of any kind including both my girlfriends who lost there daughters recently.

An Imaginary Affair is a collection of sensitive and sensuous poems for poets and non-poets who appreciate the challenges and intricacies of being human. The poems touch on key human elements, such as love, desire, passion, memory, loss, and gratitude. The poet celebrates the joys, and pains inherent to a woman’s heart, while honoring the wisdom and tones of Neruda’s poetry. Some of the epistolary poems are directed to Neruda in response to his riveting poems.
