Storytelling Legacy Everyone Has Stories

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to introduce you to a new book called Storytelling Legacy Everyone Has Stories I received in exchange for this review.

No, one want’s to admit there parents were acholic but my dad was. My dad wasn’t mean physically most of the time but his words could cut like a knife. Which is why when I found out David was a alcoholic and that he used to be a drug addict. You would have thought I would have ran screaming from him.

But I had seen my dad turn his life around and David as well. Thank the LORD I didn’t walk away because I have a amazing husband and Charlie has a kind caring dad who would give you the shirt off his back and not think twice about it.

The other day when I went to a class with my friend Debbie and she mentioned she was attending Al Anon classes because of her son and asked if I would attend a class with her I said yes. I know how scary they can be from my Teen years when my mom decided to go and took me and my sister with her. Why my brother didn’t have to go I don’t know.

The bad part is after Suzzane got killed I couldn’t seem to get through the day without a drink of some kind. But I noticed what I was doing and I sat the drinks down. Before you ask me don’t you still drink which I do but hardly ever and I know my limit. I will never go back to drinking all the time. My son means to much to me and he doesn’t need to see me drunk.

Which is why I am excited to share Storytelling Legacy Everyone Has Stories which was written by one of the leaders of the Adult Children of Alcoholics movement as I knew this book would help me help my friend.

I had thought of purchasing a cop of Storytelling Legacy Everyone Has Stories to give to my friend Debbie to help her deal with her son. But then after reading the book I knew she needed to hear this story now not later.

I also had David and Charlie sit down while I read Storytelling Legacy Everyone Has Stories to them. Then I shared my story of being a child of a Alcoholic with Charlie. Why David shared his story of Drugs and Alcohol Abuse with Charlie.

Having this book can help so many families even if they’ve never deal with Alcohol in there own lives or there children’s. For our Homeschool Class this week Charlie learned about so many celebrities in the book including Mr. T that we plan on studying.

As I read through the book I felt like I was getting to know myself a little bit better as I try and walk every day as well. I am sure I listen to some of the same music as I love Elvis Presley and would have loved meeting Barbra Bush. How about you?

Here is a question from the book “Did you love your dad”? Yes, I did because he was my dad. Did I respect my dad no… Because of the way he treated me was horrible why my sister and brother could do no, wrong. Yet, when he needed something he would call me because my sister and brother wouldn’t help him.
