This is a review for children’s books from HarperCollins (Tommy Nelson). Thank You, God, for Grandma I received copies of along with Thank You, God, for Grandpa and Grandma Prays for You in exchange for these reviews which will follow leading up to Grandparents Day on September 11th.
The past couple months Charlie and I have been watching his grandfather go down hill fast. I honestly am not sure David Sr. will be here next year on Grandparents Day. Which is sad because my dad has already passed away and I don’t want to see David’s dad do this as well.
I wanted to make Grandparents Day as special as I can for David’s parents this year. I would like to get all the kids together and get a picture of them with David’s parents. Then if something does happen each of the kids would have a picture of them.
Charlie is going to make a Blueberry Pie for David and a Sugar Free Lemon Pie for Granny Sherry. David is going to make a Brisket for dinner. Then I will decorate the home so we can have dinner with them on Grandparents Day. I plan on bringing Thank You, God, for Grandpa for Charlie to read to his grandpa.
As Charlie reads the book out loud each of the kids can share what is special about there Grandfather. As they each recite what they like I am going to have them write there answers in a notebook to give to David’s dad at the end of the day. Along with a copy of Thank You, God, for Grandpa.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to read Thank You, God, for Grandpa I hope you do soon and if you or your children are lucky enough to still have there grandparents I hope you take the time to share this book with them. David is going to also sit down with his grandson Elijah and share this new book with him. I am PRAYING this will bring them closer together as David doesn’t get much time with his grandson.
Charlie is so funny he kept asking his dad if they had taken his picture for the cover of the book. David said no, but if we visit the ZOO I bet I would see you there. LOL Men and boys… What can I say LOL Although, I loved the cover with the Gorillas on it and so would have my daughter Suzzie.
I love who these books are full of God and the love he has for everyone. David’s parents aren’t very RELIGIOUS while Charlie and I are. Having this book will allow Charlie to ask his grandfather questions about the LORD and hopefully get him to discuss if he is saved or not incase he does pass away.
David was surprised to find out the book features God and he said he wasn’t sure how his daughter Leslie and her husband Toby would feel about teaching Elijah about God but after sharing the book with Leslie David asked her what she thought and Leslie said she was glad the book talked about God and she wished more books did.
