I would like to introduce you to the children’s book Big Green Garage Written by Jen Arena and Illustrated by Mike Dutton which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.
Charlie is just like his dad and has been obsessed with cars even before he could walk. As soon as I saw read information on Big Green Garage I knew both Charlie and David would enjoy reading this picture book. As well as my Grandson Elijah who is having his Birthday this month making this book the perfect Gift for him.
As I got ready to read the book with Charlie and let David know he could give it to Elijah once we finished I found myself changing my mind as were hosting a Sleep-Over with my niece and nephew next weekend. I’ve asked them to bring two books we could read before going to bed.
As I thought about that I knew Big Green Garage would be perfect for Charlie and I to bring because the kids would enjoy both the story line and the pictures. We can take turns reading the book and discuss what is happening and why. Then we can draw what we read creating art for my office.
As we come across words Charlie might not know we can add them to our Homeschool Spelling list and once we finish reading the book we can find movies about Cars to watch while making Car Shaped Cookies as our evening snack. I can’t wait to see what Lily thinks of the book because girls love cars and being in a garage just as much as men do. Or at least Suzzane and I did.
I love how they mention the garage isn’t so clean and how we could help the mechanic clean and organize the garage which could be some of the chores our children have to do. I know the kids will have fun opening up the flaps to see what is inside the different places and there is enough flaps for all of us to open them and share what we found and how we could use them with our own cars.
Big Green Garage will lead to many hours of fun reading this book inside the home or outside and it even fits inside the Suitcase if you plan on taking a trip this year. Charlie has even asked to plan a Homeschool Field Trip to a Auto Parts Store so he can look up everything we saw in the book in person and his dad can show him how the items works. Allowing them to have one on one time together.
