Jerky is dried, flavored meats. Essentially, the meat soaked in brine and a variety of flavorings, and then Jerky is dried. Jerky is popular for snacks as well as a nutritious treat on long hikes. Or while out biking, or out in the woods. Jerky is lean, nutritious, and light weight, making Jerky easy to carry in your back pack.

Many people think of Jerky as “Beef Jerky”. But, Jerky can be made from almost any type of meat, including Deer, Chicken, Poultry, Pork, or Turkey. A wide variety of flavorings, and often smoked, gives us a wide variety Jerky.

Did you know Jerky is a Space food and Jerky has been on diet of Astronauts in Space since 1996.

To really celebrate National Jerky Day, make Homemade Jerky. If you don’t have the time or expertise to make Jerky at home, go out and purchase Jerky.

Red Rose Day is a time to enjoy and appreciate America’s favorite flower the red Rose. Did you know a red Rose signifies love. A June setting for Red Rose Day is very appropriate, because this is by far the most popular month for Weddings. Red Roses are in bloom in gardens across America this month.

In addition to being the most popular cut flower, Roses are also the most popular flower in flower beds and around foundation of houses, and sheds. Roses are easy to grow, producing a bounty of sweet scented Flowers from June up to the first frost.

The History and Origin of Red Rose Day:

The date for this holiday is all over the calendar but June 12th is by far the most common date for this holiday.  And, it’s logical, because Roses are in full bloom in June.

We did not find any information on the creation of this holiday in the U.S but this holiday may have been imported from Australia. The Cystic Fibrosis foundation in Australia holds a Red Rose Day and Week. The holiday varies each year.
