Big Rocks Park is located on the Paluxy River, and it is is a full of unusually large rocks but there is plenty of shallow areas for children to climb, explore and play. You can swim here while cooling off from the Texas heat. Then Picnic underneath the trees and then you can stretch your legs as there is plenty of areas to walk along the Paluxy River.
When packing for the trip bring your swimming suits as there is Pool of Water that is a dam that created a pool of water. The water exits the dam through large holes near the top of the dam. Depending on how much water is going through, you can sit or ride on the water flowing out of these holes and down the dam into the pool of water. You can walk, run, or bike across the top of the dam.
If you walk across the dam to the other side of the river, there is a nice trail that leads over to the Paluxy Heritage Park. There is a small gravel parking lot that will be full if crowded. There is additional parking along Barnard Street on the same side as the Big Rocks Park but on the other side of the dam.
