NATIONAL RASPBERRY POPOVER DAY

National Raspberry Popover Day falls on May 3rd each year and recognizes a dish similar to Yorkshire Pudding. The Holiday is also referred to as National Raspberry Tart Day.

Popovers earn their name by their characteristic Popping over the edge of the pan as the Popovers bake. Popovers can be enjoyed in both sweet or savory combinations. The primary ingredients in Popovers are Flour, Eggs, Milk, Salt and Butter. Raspberries make Popovers sweeter. Whether sweet or savory, most people enjoy Popovers at breakfast time.

National Raspberry Popover Day is the second Popover Holiday on the calendar. Did you know in March, we celebrated National Blueberry Popover Day?

Today is National Raspberry Tart Day which is the perfect combination of crispy Crust, creamy filling, and fresh Fruit. Tarts originated during the Middle Ages. Although sweet Fruit-topped Tarts are the most popular, many savory or salty varieties exist. In France, many of these open-faced Pies are made with Eggs, Cheeses, Meats, and Vegetables. Whether you prefer Tars filled with Chocolate or Goat Cheese, Tarts are always delicious!

To celebrate National Raspberry Tart Day, head to your bakery to pick up a Raspberry Tart or prepare your own Raspberry Tart!

Today is a delicious day, National Chocolate Custard Da. Custards are one of the most versatile desserts you’ll ever find. Custards are the perfect way to satisfy a craving for something sweet. Some people call this dessert Chocolate Pudding, but whatever the name may Chcolate Custard may be, it does not take away from the tastiness. Custards have been around since the Middle Ages and have satisfied many a sweet tooth. While the most common Custards are plain or Vanilla-flavored, Chocolate Custard provides an even more delicious take on the recipe.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CUSTARD DAY

Chocolate Custards are made prepared with Chocolate and the usual Custard mix of Sugar, Milk, and Eggs, creating a mouthwatering creation. Falling under the general classification of Chocolate Pudding, Custards can be made into a harder texture with Starch or baked into a Cake.

Historically, Custards have been around since the Middle Ages. Custards were baked as Pastries that we now know as Custard Tarts. That was when the name Custard came to be. Custard got its name from the French word ‘croustade,’ which originally referred to the crust of a Tart. Custard got a mention in ‘The Forme of Cury,’ a large collection of Medieval English recipes compiled in the 14th Century.

These ‘Custards’ were rather unlike those Custards we think of today. These Custards often included solid ingredients including Meat, Fish, or Fruit.

Although there is no clear history of when Chocolate Custard tradition began. Chocolate Pudding has been around since the 1800s. Around the late 19th Century, it was decided that Chocolate Pudding was a great meal for invalids and children. Pudding was also seen as a scrumptious dessert for everybody

A recipe for an early version of Chocolate Custard dates back to a 1918 in a cookbook by Fannie Farmer. In 1934, Chocolate Pudding was introduced to consumers by General Foods, and it was initially called Walter Baker’s Dessert, and its name was later changed in 1936 to Pickle’s Pudding.

There is no known history of National Chocolate Custard Day, but National Chocolate Custard Day is celebrated annually on May 6.
