In our home David and Charlie think we should have Potatoes or Macaroni and Cheese every time for dinner. Neither of them is Veggie lovers because I love Veggies and don’t have to have Potatoes or Mac and Cheese all the time. But it is nice to celebrate National Potato Lovers Month since Charlie and David and even me at times wouldn’t survive without Potatoes. How about you?
National Potato Lovers Month
For most people February is one of the most important months of the year. It’s POTATO LOVERS’ MONTH! Back in 1987, Governor Gardener signed a declaration making February Potato Lovers Month. Thank the LORD because my family thinks Potatoes should be celebrated every day. What do you think and why?
Potatoes are very easy to cook, and Potatoes can be used in a variety of recipes. Potatoes are a great addition to your diet. Did you know that the skin of a Potato is edible? In fact, according to the skin contains half of the Potato’s dietary Fiber. The Potato is also a great source of Vitamins and Minerals, containing almost half of your daily recommended Vitamin C and about 1/5 of your daily recommended Potassium. Did I mention Potatoes are cheap and long lasting? Potatoes can be stored for up to five weeks in your pantry, making Potatoes the perfect go-to vegetable.
Did you know as yummy as Potatoes are, you can also use Potatoes for a rainy-day kid’s craft. An adult can cut the Potatoes in half, draw a shape and cut out with a sharp knife. Pour paint in a bowl and let the kids create fun Veggie art.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
