The Mommies Reviews

Welcome to our series sharing Food Holidays: December 3rd, 2021. Did you know today is National Peppermint Latte Day? David is off and if I had knew about this I would have taken him to the new Coffee Shop in town to order a Peppermint Latte while I had a glass of Tea.

National Peppermint Latte Day**

Five facts to know about Peppermint Lattes:

Peppermint Lattee is typically made of Espresso, Steamed Milk, Mocha Sauce and Peppermint Flavored Syrup.

I have a question for you. Did you know Peppermint is a hybrid Mint between Watermint and Spearmint. Before you ask me. I don’t know what a Watermint is. Do you know?

The first description of Peppermint was in 1753 by Carl Linnaeus.

Peppermint has a high Menthol content, that is widely used to relieve minor throat irritation.

Peppermint Syrup is a delicious complement to Coffee or Hot Chocolate.

December 3rd is a Holiday created for all the Coffeeholics in the world because National Peppermint Latte Day is observed on December 3rd. Celebrate this food-related Holiday by treating yourself to a Peppermint Latte.

Latte is a Coffee drink prepared with Espresso and Steamed Milk. Peppermint Lattes became widely spread in the United States in the early 1990s. This Coffee drink is usually prepared in an 8 oz cup or glass with one single or double shot of Espresso and filled with Steamed Milk. Peppermint Lattes are also topped with approximately a 1/2 inch thick layer of foamed Milk.

Latte can be flavored with different Syrups. A Peppermint Latte or a Peppermint Mocha are Seasonal Christmas drink in many Coffee shops. That is why there’s no wonder National Peppermint Latter Day is celebrated during the Holiday Season.

Did you know you can easily make a Peppermint Mocha Latte at home. Make a shot of Espresso or brew 1/2 cup strong Coffee. Pour the Coffee into a mug. Combine 1/2 cup Milk, 1/4 cup chopped Chocolate Chips and Mint Syrup in a saucepan. Stir and cook in the Microwave until all the Chocolate is melted. Whisk until foamy and pour over the Coffee.

If you don’t feel like preparing your own Peppermint Lattes then you can visit your favorite Coffee Shop and no, it doesn’t have to be Starbucks and order a Peppermint Lattes and when you do I would like a cup of Coffee with Cream and Sugar. French Vanilla Creamer or Plain please.

Thank you,
