Truth, Lies & Alzheimer’s Its Secret Faces

The Mommies Reviews

This is a review for Truth, Lies & Alzheimer’s Its Secret Faces which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.

I wish I could say I never had to deal with Alzheimer’s but that isn’t the case as my dad’s dad had Alzheimer’s when I was a child. I remember us going to the Nursing Home to visit my grandfather and he didn’t know who any of us was. Which was so hard as I was so close to him growing up.

To prepare Charlie for his as his grandparents on David’s side get older I wanted to read TRUTH, LIES & ALZHEIMER’S Its Secret Faces with Charlie because he could face this with his grandparents or even David and I one day. Or even Charlie or my sister and her family might have someone come down with Alzheimer’s and since we can never be to careful its better to be prepared and having TRUTH, LIES & ALZHEIMER’S Its Secret Faces will help us do that.

About:

TRUTH, LIES & ALZHEIMER’S Its Secret Faces is a concise guide to navigating the heartbreaking challenges of having a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

Through a rich trove of stories culled from her years in the eldercare industry, Lisa Skinner offers insight into the difficult questions families face, including:

– How do I respond to a loved one’s false belief?

– Am I abandoning my parent if I place them in the care of professionals?

– How do we make the best of our time left together?

Skinner’s original thinking and counter-intuitive solutions provide family members, spouses, children, caregivers, and others with the tools they need to effectively manage the symptoms of brain disease.

Readers of her book will feel empowered to work through the difficulties of the disease, and return to what matters – enjoying their remaining time with their loved one.

Thank you,
