Good morning, welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: October 24th, 2021. Before you ask yes, I am a day late. I ended up getting sick Saturday afternoon and slept most of Sunday away. Yes, thank you for asking I am better except my throat is hurting a little. But that is enough about me. How are you this morning?

Hindu Diwali Day – date varies November 4, 2021; October 24, 2022; November 12, 2023; October 31, 2024; October 21, 2025; November 8, 2026.

Diwali Day is the first day of a five day Hindu Holiday celebration. A Festival of Lights, one of the major Hindu Holidays of the year. Diwali Day originated in India as a Harvest Festival. The Holiday is now celebrated by Hindus throughout the world and it is also called “Diwali”.

Diwali Day signifies the victory of:

  • Light over darkness
  • Good over evil
  • Knowledge over ignorance
  • Hope over despair

Diwali Day Customs and Activities:

  • Participate in a family prayer.
  • People clean up there home, office and workplace.
  • They dress up in new clothes and if you don’t have new clothes, dress up in your best clothes.
  • Light lamps or candles.
  • Celebrate with fireworks if you have some

National Bologna Day

National Bologna Day is a day full of Baloney!

Properly spelled Bologna, it is sometimes spelled “Baloney” but it is pronounced like the latter spelling. Did you know Bologna is a Sausage commonly used as Lunch Meat. Mom and kids know Bologna well.

When it comes to Bologna, there definitely is variety. Including regular Bologna, German Bologna, Beef Bologna, Kosher Bologna, and other varieties. Depending upon the kind of Bologna, it could include Pork, Beef, Chicken, and Spices. 

It’s easy to enjoy National Bologna Day just have a Bologna sandwich. For something different you might try Fried Bologna and don’t forget the Mustard. I don’t know about you but David and I grew up on Fried Bologna Sandwiches only I like Mayonnaise not Mustard. How about you?

We certainly hope that at the end of National Bologna Day, your “full of Baloney”!

Almost all food related Holidays are referred to as “National”.

We didn’t find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” day and there is no congressional records or presidential proclamation.

United Nations Day

This event recognizes the United Nation Organization and all who serve and participate in this World Organization. The United Nations is dedicated to World Peace, and to the betterment of humanity through a wide range of program from world hunger to environment and health issues. 

Almost all of the more than 100 countries in the world are members of this organization.
