The Chinese Moon Festival is one of the biggest annual Holidays in China and this day is also called the Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival. According to Chinese legend, this is the birthday of the Earth God “T’u-ti Kung.

Chinese Moon Festival, or the Mooncake Festival, is a celebration of the Autumn Harvest which occurs when the Moon is the brightest. and the highest in the Sky. This celebration is one of the oldest Holidays in the world, dating back thousands of years. Early celebrations included worship of the Moon as a God.

Today, the Chinese Moon Festival is celebrated as a National Holiday in China and many other Asian countries. People take the day off from work and they view the Moon and they cook and enjoy family and friends.

Making, giving, and eating Mooncakes is a tradition on this Holiday. Mooncakes Pastries are thick and dense. Mooncakes can be filled with a variety of things. Mooncake fillings are not usually sweet but often filled with Beans, Nuts, or Seeds. Recipes vary.

International Peace Day

International Peace Day seeks a global cease fire of Violence and War. Each year this Holiday, celebrations are held in hundreds of Countries, all with the same goal in mind….to stop War and Violence. Created and sponsored by the United Nations, this day seeks to end War, starting today.

The United Nations goal for this day is “a day of non-violence and cease fire”. Wouldn’t it be nice if this Holiday succeeded and spread, Country by Country, day by day, until there is no more War or Violence. Can this goal ever succeed? Former Beatle John Lennon had the right vision in his song “Imagine“.

History and Origin of Miniature Golf Day:

Miniature Golf Day is today. So hit your local miniature golf course for some fun.

We found no information about this Holiday but every once in a while, were stumped by a Holiday and, this is one of those days. Miniature golf is popular in the Summer, when kids are out of school and the evening weather is warm. We are mildly surprised that Miniature Golf Day is celebrated in late September.

Miniature golf is wildly popular by adults and children and its a great date for couples, young and old. Minatare Golf is a great place to hold a birthday party for kids. You don’t have to be good at Miniature Golf. With twists, turns, and a variety of obstacles, your score is partially the result of luck which is half of the fun of it.

Take someone with you today to play a round or two of Miniature Golf.

World Gratitude Day

World Gratitude Day is your opportunity to show your gratitude and appreciation.

The United Nations Meditation Group created World Gratitude Day to express appreciation for the great things that individuals and groups do. This recognition is on a global basis. According to their website: “World Gratitude Day presents an award to someone who we feel has done something outstanding in the spirit of Globalism.”

This group also suggests that you find something to be grateful for.

On a smaller scale, seek to give gratitude and appreciation to people in your life who have done good deeds.

History and Origin of World Gratitude Day:

The roots of World Gratitude Day was started in 1965 at the International East-West Center in Hawaii during a Thanksgiving Dinner. At the dinner, attendees pledged to hold a Gratitude Gathering the following September 21st in their home Countries which grew to be an annual event.

Thank you,
