The other day I was out with my friend Debbie looking for Garage Sales. So Debbie and I saw a sign and we followed it up a street near my home. As we approached the house the Garage Sale was being held at all I could say was “OMG” as it was at David’s Aunts house. Because Aunt Kathy is in a nursing home and will never return home her kids sold her home while she was in a Rehab Facility. I got out to look around at the Garage Sale and I found a table cloth that was still brand new in the package which my friend purchased for me.
Then David and I went back up later to the Garage Sale as he wanted to look around and see if there was anything of his Aunt Kathy’s left that he would want to have. As we were looking we meet the new owners of the house and they were kind enough to give us a tour of the house. I just wish Aunt Kathy could see the remolding they have done as she would love her home. With all the remolding the owner has done the looks much nicer than when Kathy and LC purchased it brand new. .
We were leaving I looked upon the porch where I saw a Rocking Chair with a heart on it and I mentioned to David that I liked the Rocking Chair and would like to have one just like it for my deck. The owner of the house overheard me and was so kind that gave me the Rocking Chair. Which David will be fixing the leg then I plan on painting the Rocking Chair a nice chocolate brown as it will match the house. I like knowing we have the Rocking Chair as it gives David something of his Aunt Kathy as he hasn’t been able to see her since she is in the Nursing Home. Having the Rocking Chair keeps her close and when David is missing Aunt Kathy he can sit in the chair and tell Charlie stories about his Great Aunt.
Afterwards I walked down the driveway and I found a bank that was old fashioned looking and it says ” A Penny Saved A Penny Earned” which my grandmother was always telling my sister, brother and I. I asked David if he would purchase the bank for me. David didn’t answer me so since I didn’t want to push him I went on out to the car to wait for him as he was telling the owner how much he appreciated the tour of the house and that he was so happy he had purchased it as he knew he would take care of the house.
Once David came to the car he handed me the Piggy Bank as the owner of the house gave it to David to give to me. So the bank sits on my desk to remind me of Aunt Kathy and also my grandmother. I am filling it with change so I can take David, Charlie and I on a trip as I know this is what Aunt Kathy and my grandmother would want me to do that. But saving the money isn’t something I am telling Charlie or David as I want to surprise them if I can.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
