This is a review for the book Self Care for Grief which I received in exchange for this review.
As someone who has lost many people they love Grief can hit us when we least expect it and it affects our friends and family. This morning I would like to share a book for self-care, mind-body-spirit, and emotional wellness:
Thanks to Covid and the Pandemci the past year has been one of loss and trauma. Many people are finding it difficult to focus their attention elsewhere. But research shows that tuning in to personal needs and taking time to build a thoughtful self-care practice can make a big difference in helping us move forward in a healthy manner.
Just when I thought Covid was calming down it seems its rearing its ugly head again and this time it’s hit close to home. Charlie’s best friend Tim lost his Uncle his only Role-Model to Covid.
Not knowing what to say or how to help his family since I didn’t know his mom I gave Tim my copy of Self-Care for Grief which features 100 self-care activities designed to help us process grief, protect our mental health, and find moments of happiness in the most difficult and distressing situations.
At night when Tim has come back to visit Charlie he has been bringing his book with him and we’ve been doing some of the exercises together to help me cope with the death of my daughter and my parents.
As Charlie would watch us I could tell he wanted to do the exercises as well but I didn’t want to push Charlie. Then the other day I was busy when Tim arrived and he was waiting for me to be able to help him when Charlie said he would.
To me that was a Godsend because even though Charlie doesn’t talk about it I knew he had been missing his grandparents and now he can work through his Grief with his friends.
In one section Self Care for Grief talks about Cooking A Meal to Heal so I took Tim to the grocery store and picked up the ingredients for his Uncles favorite meal which we cooked and took to his family.
How mother asked where Tim got that ideal from and when he said from a Self-Care for Grief the book I gave him she asked to see his copy and since then they have been working through the book together.
