National Truffle Day... - Holidays That Might Get Overlooked | Facebook

One of the owners of a Food Truck I visited made Truffle Tater Tots and let me tell you they were so good. I wish I knew were this Food Truck was because I sure would like to have some now.

If you cook with Truffles what do you make with them and why? As for a recipe to share this morning since I don’t know that much about Truffles I wasn’t sure what I should share.

About:

Truffles: Why are they so expensive?

National Truffle Day according to legend, a man named Louis Dufour invented the Chocolate Truffle in Chambéry, France in 1895. Then a few years later, Antoine Dufour opened the Prestat Chocolate Shop in London.

Historians believe the Chocolate Shop was solely responsible for popularizing Chocolate Truffles in England (and beyond). But the relationship between Louis and Antoine is uncertain.

Here is a Fun fact: Roald Dahl, the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was a huge fan of Prestat truffles! Did you know that? I bet David does because this is is all time favorite movie.

The first recipes for Chocolate Truffles appeared in the 1920s. There are three main types—American, European, and Swiss. Each Truffle has a slightly different twist, but they all include a creamy Ganache filling and a topping like cocoa, coconut, or drizzled chocolate.

Thank you,
