If your children have been wanting to learn a Foreign Language today is the day to study Chinese because its Chinese Language Day. If Chinese isn’t a Language your child is interested in then check out the other 5 Languages The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. (UNESCO) recognizes as official languages of the UN.
Did you know Chinese is one of the six languages and in recognition and celebration of these languages, each one was given a special holiday. Chinese Language Day is today, April 20.
Chinese Language Day was created by UNESCO to celebrate multilingual and cultural diversity, and to recognize and celebrate Chinese as one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
This special holiday also pays tribute to Cang Jie, a legendary figure who invented Chinese characters over 5,000 years ago. #HomeschoolTeachingMoment
Chinese is the native language of over 1 billion people and there are over 200 dialects of Chinese, with many so diverse, that they could be considered their own language group.
The most common of these is Mandarin, which is the official language (or dialect) of the People’s Republic of China. Mandarin is also widely spoken in Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. After Mandarin, the most commonly spoken Chinese languages, or dialects, are: Wu, Shanghainese, Hongkongese, and Cantonese.
This would be a fun day to dress like your child then have them dress like you. Or visit your Thrift Stores and pick out clothes from times gone by and dress up alike.
Pick certain Centuries or Stars to dress alike. Or get your pets involved and have them dress up like you. Put on a Fashion Show and have people guess who your dressing up as and why.
Oh Boy! It’s Look Alike Day. Time to look like somebody else…..copycat.
Today’s a day to find someone you really look up to, and try to look like them. Start with the hair. Style your hair, as needed, to look like the person you’ve selected to look like.
Then, select items from your wardrobe (or buy some new clothes!) that your lookalike wears. Make sure to practice and copy their walk, their talk, and their facial expressions. In other words. try to be as identical to that person as possible.
The best example of look alikes are Elvis Presley impersonators. You also have a look alike somewhere out there. It is said that everyone has a twin in the world. Perhaps more than one person, who looks just like them. This look alike is called a “Doppelganger”. #HomeschoolTeachingMoment
Before you ask me who you should you look like? Anyone you want. Its as simple as that. Pick an actor or actress, a singer, a politician, family member or friend.
Look alike contests and parties are a great idea for today in Homeschooling. If you will excuse me I am going to plain our party and make snacks while C is sleeping.
This morning Charlie will be checking into the Goverment Housing Authority by my home to find out how he can mow lawns for Senors this Summer for free.
As well as visiting our local Animal Shelter to help walk the dogs and clean out the stalls they live in. Then in our neighborhood Charlie will be taking out the trash for our neighbors. Volunteering to help others while getting credit for school. What more would a parent want or need?
Volunteer Recognition Day honors the legions of volunteers who dedicate themselves to causes and helping others. They’re making big and small differences in the lives of millions of people all over the worldsaving lives. They are improving lives and providing comfort and they assist people, animals, and nature.
Most volunteers do not ask for recognition. They just want to help and to “give back” where they can. Most volunteers like to remain anonymous Charlie says.
In documenting special or unique days, the author attempts to avoid editorializing, and keeps reporting the facts. I will step away from the norm when speaking to this topic.
It is vital and essential more people need to get involved because there are so many groups and causes that need volunteer efforts. The needs are broad and urgent, that everyone can find someplace to volunteer and make a difference.
Celebrate this “Volunteer Recognition Day by:
- Thanking volunteers for their work
- Getting involved yourself in a volunteer activity.
- Donating to a volunteer group
BTW: Volunteers are keeping a big secret from those that don’t volunteer. Volunteer activities are energizing and rewarding. its lots of fun and camaraderie.
