Barbershop Quartet Day

National Barbershop Quartet Day | Barbershop Harmony Society

Barbershop Quartet Day honors four guys with great voices. Have you ever heard one of these groups playing live? I haven’t but I would like to.

Barbershop Quartet Day celebrates the founding of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 11, 1938. Barbershop Quartets date back to the early 1900’s in America.

Barbershop quartets are a popular musical groupa dn there musical selections are happy and light hearted. They allow full utilization of the voice ranges and skills of these great singers.

Barbershop Quartet Day competitions happen at local and national levels encouraging Barbershop Quartet Day groups to flourish. It would be fun for Charlie to join one of the groups.

Celebrate today by listening to a Barbershop Quartet, either live or recorded. Charlie and I watched this skit from I Love Lucy this morning in our Homeschooling Classroom.

If you enjoyed learning about Barbershop Quartet Day then you will not want to miss out on Barbershop Music Appreciation Day in July. Which is another class our students can study in Homeschool Music Class.

Eight Track Tape Day Have you asked your children if they know what a Eight Track Player is?

I remember when I was in High School for my birthday my mom bought my brother and I Boom Boxes ie. Radio’s. Gerald’s had a Cassette Tape and I asked for a Eight Track Tape player in in Radio.

I believe my brother got the better deal because Eight Track Tapes have gone away but Cassette Tapes are still used. What can I say I knew what I liked and never thought they would be gone.

My mom bought me Bob Seger Eight Track Tape for my Birthday that year. Before you ask me I don’t remember what Cassette Tape he got. Before you ask if I could ask my brother I could but I am not sure he would remember what she got him.

About:

Eight Track Tape Day brings back fond memories of the sixties and seventies. During this era, eight track tapes ruled the music world. America’s love of the automobile, was a driving force in creating the demand for musical cassette formats.

For those who grew up in this era, an eight track tape player in your home and your car was an essential. It was eventually replaced by cassette and other formats for storing music.

Eight Track Tape Day is a day to bring back fond memories of the sixties and seventies. If you still have Eight Track Tapes and a player, by all means enjoy the day listening to some great music. If not, just spend a few minutes looking back in time to when you loved your eight track tapes!

If your under 50 or 60 years old, this holiday likely means little to nothing to you. I wouldn’t be surprised that this holiday may eventually fade away as time passes.

Homeschool Music Tip: Eight track tapes were created by the jet maker William Lear.

National Pet Day

Top ten ways to celebrate National Pet Day today | fox61.com

I would like to tell you it might be National Pet Day today but Charlie spoils our dags everyday. There isn’t one day that goes by that at least one of our dogs isn’t spoiled.

If Charlie isn’t doing it David is. If you want to know the truth our dogs are treated better than I am at times. Are your pets treated better than you are? Or do you spoil the pets while your family watches?

Colleen Paige, the creator of National Pet Day, celebrates “the special relationship between humans and pets, explaining the joy pets bring to our lives”. Raising awareness, of the plight of all types of animal pets awaiting rescue and/or a permanent home. Maybe, that home will be yours!

Today is a day about the both of you although there is a special bond between humans and pets. We’re talking about any and all pets. Not, just dogs.

When your thinking about National Pet Day its a mutually beneficial relationship, to both you and your pet. As you feed, care for, and love your pet, you will gain your pet’s loyalty and a mutual affection.

It’s hard to be lonely, when a pet is at your side because having a pet has a way of lifting your spirits. Pets often know when your sick, sad, or worried. Your pet may try to offer comfort or even offer you sympathy.

Taking on a rescue animal is a great way to celebrate this day. Homeschool Tip: Rescue animals are defined as any animal that is living in poor conditions, and have been abandoned or abused.

There is a joy and emotional reward, in taking on an animal in these conditions. You will bring the pet security, safety and happiness to your pet. Our pets rewards us in many, many ways.

Celebrate today by spending time and playing with your pet and don’t forget to give your pert a special treat or a toy. If you don’t have a pet, consider getting one from a shelter. If the opportunity arises, take on a rescue animal, if you can.

If Pets Had Thumbs Day

If Pets Had Thumbs Day is March 3rd: What Would Your Dog Do?

Could you imagine that? I wonder what they would do. Would they help us out or would they get into things? In our Homeschool Class this morning for Creative Writing Charlie is going to write a story about a Pet who had a thumb. I wonder what kind of Pet Charlie will choose.

If Pets Had Thumbs Day leaves you wondering what would happen if…….

One thing that sets man apart from many other species on the planet is an opposable thumb. It allows us to do many things that most other creatures can’t do.

Now imagine what it would be like if your pet had thumbs. Do you get a clear image of your pet with thumbs? Are you seeing your pet doing things with their new thumb? If so, your mind is in spirit with today.

Note: If you have a pet monkey, you already know what it would be like for your pet to have thumbs.

National Submarine Day

Happy National Submarine Day! by Uranimated18 on DeviantArt

Submarine Day…. does it celebrate the submersible boat, or the big hero sandwich? Most everywhere you find documentation on Submarine Day, it hails today as a day to celebrate the submarine boat.

We are certain April 17th holiday is about military submarines, including the U.S. Submarine Force which was established on this date in 1900. Which leaves us wondering what the March 17 Submarine Day is all about. Perhaps, it is in celebration of hero subs!?

Enjoy Submarine Day by watching movies featuring them or read a book about submarines in your Homeschooling Class. If you live near a naval museum, take a drive to see a submarine today, and if allowed, go aboard. Which is a Field Trip for your students. Don’t forget to take a Picnic Lunch with Submarine Sandwiches and Chips.

If you work at a deli, it’s perfectly okay to celebrate Submarine Day with a hero submarine of your choice. Although, Charlie and I don’t we can still make our own in our Homeschool Cooking Class.

If you know someone who owns a deli, give ask them if they would give us a deal and run a Submarine Day special. In this case, celebrate Submarine Day. On March 17th.
