As a child I remember my parents reading to me at night before bedtime. The books we would read was from Little Golden Books. When I had Suzzane I knew what books I wanted to purchase to share with her.
Then came my nephew David M. and I couldn’t wait to share my favorite Little Golden Books with him. Then there was Charlie and he had his favorite Little Golden Books.
As well as my nieces and nephews who I purchase Little Golden Books for now. If your not familiar with these books Charlie and I will be studying them in school.
I wanted to give you some feedback on Little Golden Books and my Top 5 books and later on David and Charlie will come and share there Top 5 with you.

Little Golden Books is a series of children’s books, which were founded in 1942. I would like to share a fun tidbit about Little Golden Boos with you. The Poky Little Puppy, is the top-selling children’s book of all time. As well as one of my favorite books.
Here is other top sellers including Tootle, Scuffy the Tugboat, one of Charlie’s favorite books and The Little Red Hen which my nephew performed in Drama Class.
Iillustrators for the Little Golden Books later became influential within the children’s book industry. Giving Homeschoolers new Lesson Plans and Unit Studies to study in Reading.
If your studying nature, Bible stories, nursery rhymes to read to your babies or Fairy Tales there is books you can use in your Lesson Plans making Reading more fun.
Did you know there are Christmas titles published every year. Little Golden Books even feature TV Show, Movies and Children’s Toys including Sesame Street, The Muppets, Disney characters, Looney Tunes, Barbie, Power Rangers and even Thomas the Tank Engine along with many other stories.
If your looking for celebrities to study then you should check out Little Golden Books as they feature my dads favorite Western Star Hopalong Cassidy and mine Annie Oakley. Or Rin Tin Tin about a dog. Then there is also Lassie and Cheyenne.
David wanted me to tell you to look up Captain Kangaroo and Mister Rogers who I love. David also said for Music Class to look for the books featuring Donny and Marie Osmond.
The Golden Book series started with the publisher Simon & Schuster. There were also Western Printing and Lithographing Company in Racine, Wisconsin. Simon & Schuster’s partner in the Little Golden Books venture, with Western handling print operations. Penguin Random House is the current publisher of the series.
As your having your students study the books have them also study the Publishing Companies listed above and see what they can learn through them. Let them look through the books they published and pick out there favorite to read in there reading class.

Both copies are readily recognizable as Little Golden Books. At the time of the series’ golden anniversary in 1992, Golden Books claimed that a billion and a half Little Golden Books had been sold. Could you imagine creating a product and selling that much of what you created?
Little Golden Books have remained the backbone of the product line. But the enterprise that produced Little Golden Books have created a variety of children’s books in various forms. Including media, records, tapes, videos, and even toys and games. Did you know some of the books have appeared in several different formats (including “A Golden Book”)

As a child my mom’s favorite book was Little Black Sambo. I always liked Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. Although, book of these books are hard to find I would like to locate them to add to my personal library.
