Teaching Parents & Kids the Language of Emotion

We teach children to walk, talk, use the bathroom, eat, bathe and tie their shoes. We teach them their ABCs and 123s.

But are we teaching them the important language of emotions? It’s a loaded question that may have stopped you in your tracks as you read this, especially if you are a parent or educator.

Yes, emotions are a language, and like learning to speak and read English (Spanish, or any other language) your children’s emotional intelligence quotient develops through emotional education.

In fact, according to multiple studies at top universities, emotional intelligence or “EQ” is the #1 predictor of both happiness and success for our kids as they transition into adulthood.

Now that we’ve outlined the “what” and “why,” the “how” is likely your next question. How do I teach my children the language of emotions? More specifically, how to navigate, process and communicate their emotions in a healthy way?

Parent Educator and Founder of Generation Mindful, Suzanne Tucker, has dedicated her life and career to educating parents around the world on communicating the language of emotion to children through structured play, facilitated through Generation Mindful’s flash cards, educational toys and conversation starting wall materials that help connect the generations through playful emotion-based communication and teach children to understand their own emotions and gain the ability to Name it, Feel it, Heal it.
