A Very Lappy Christmas by Caroline Henrich

The Mommies Reviews

A Very Lappy Christmas by Caroline Henrich is our newest Christmas Gift Guide Sponsor. You will find A Very Lappy Christmas inside our Christmas Gift Guide for: Homeschool.

My family loves movies and books about DOGS of all kinds. As well as my daughter Leslie and once Charlie finishes reading A Very Lappy Christmas I will loan the book to Les to read to her son Elijah.

The only problem with that is when Les reads A Very Lappy Christmas she might not want to return the book for us. So instead of lending her our copy I plan on purchasing a copy of A Very Lappy Christmas for her family.

About:

In Kennett Square Pennsylvania, a Finnish Lapphund named Snowy lives with her seven brothers, their parents, their sister Brandi, a lovely rescue dog, and their human family.

The young Lappies want to learn about their ancestors who herded reindeer in the Artic for thousands of years, as well as their grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles.

Several weeks before Christmas, Snowy, her brothers, and her parents learn that Santa may not be able to deliver gifts to the children around the world because all the reindeer except for Donner and Rudolph have disappeared into the Northern Lights.

The Lappies are asked to help save Christmas. They are hesitant to leave their Pop-Pop Steve who is in a wheelchair after a fall. With his support, the Lappies set off on a great adventure to learn about themselves and the value of teamwork, as they try to save Christmas for the children. They also rely on the love and support from Brandi.

The young Lappies learn that their determination, love for each other, and their strong desire to ensure all children receive gifts on Christmas, enables them to seek the support of dogs and cats around the world. The story, as told by Snowy, examines the fear of failure and self-doubt that is universal.

It then focuses on the ability to move forward towards achieving a goal despite the fear. The strong bonds of friendship that are formed and the deep and heartwarming messages of love, giving, and serving are powerful reminders for children and adults during the holiday season.

About: Caroline Henrich

Author Caroline Henrich

A Very Lappy Christmas is Caroline Henrich’s first book. She lives with her husband Steve and her son Christopher in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Henrich is an attorney who has worked at several large companies during her career, and a life-long animal lover.

While working with a Norwegian company, she fell in love with a Finnish Lapphund named Leo. She and her husband later added two to their family and both became therapy dogs.

These two Finish Lapphunds later had puppies, seven boys and one girl. Henrich and her husband also own a rescue dog named Brandi. This big family which is full of love has also had its challenges.

Attempting to take care of the puppies at four months old, Steve fell down a flight of stairs, the accident left him disabled. Together they have moved forward and their journey inspired her to write this book focusing on love, strength, and determination.
