When homeschooling our children if we think outsaide the box we can find learning resources all around us. Including movies they can watch for History, Music and Art.
This week I was sent a screening link to watch ALL IN: THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY. I didn’t think about having Charlie sit down with me to watch the movie until it began.
As ALL IN: THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY started to tell me about History I called David and Charlie in to sit down and watch the movie with me. I just wish I had given Charlie a pen and paper as there was so many things we could study during the year which ALL IN: THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY touched on.
Including Martin Luther King Jr. walk on Washington, Ku Klux Klan and Slavery allowing us to add lessons we hadn’t thought about studying this year.
Being a Election year thought All In THe Fight For Democracy Charlie was able to learn more about voter suppression. Even David and I learned things we didn’t know about.
Amazon Studios’ ALL IN: THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY, a riveting examination of voter suppression in the United States, is heading to select theaters — including theaters in DFW — on September 9, and will be released on Amazon Prime Video on September 18.
I believe everyone should watch ALL IN: The Fight For Democracy at least once but it’s for older kids . If your a parent then I suggest you watch ALL IN: The Fight For Democracy first as there might be scenes in the film you wouldn’t want your children to see.
Or words you would want to discuss with them that they will hear in the movie. One of the words is NIGGER and I don’t like that word and it isn’t allowed in my home but it was a big part of what happened back then and children should bemnade aware of it.
Just as black men and women were beaten for trying to vote which everyone should have the right to do. There is scenes of people hanging from trees which upset Charlie but after discussing what was happening with Charlie he understood not that we agreed with it but we knowit isn’t going to happen again. Or at least we Pray it isn’t going to.

The film interweaves personal experiences with current activism and historical insight to expose a problem that has corrupted our democracy from the very beginning.
With the perspective and expertise of Stacey Abrams, the former Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives, the documentary offers an insider’s look into laws and barriers to voting that most people don’t even know are threats to their basic rights as citizens of the United States.
