Urban Aviary: A modern guide to city birds

The Mommies Reviews

Preparing for a new school year is challenging as we never know what will interest our children. Or will bore them and then they will not want to study.

To make our school year more fun I’ve been looking for ways to get out of our classroom more. One of the ways I plan on doing this is to study Birds once a week.

Not knowing much about Birds I looked for a book we could use. I found Urban Aviary: A modern guide to city birds which will allow Charlie to identify birds we see.

As well as how to draw the birds we find for Art class. I love how the Authors included a Glossary at the front of the book. Making the things we want to find easier to locate.

For each Bird there is a description and a picture. If we want to go into further detail we can research online or go on a Field Trip to the library to find books on certain birds were studying that week.

At the back of Urban Aviary: A modern guide to city birds is a list of novels we can use in our Bird Studies. Which we can check into to further our studies of Birds.

Using Urban Aviary: A modern guide to city birds can be a week long study or 6 weeks or even a year. It’sup to you on how detailed you want to be. How long would you like to study birds and why?

A unique guide to the unusual and often surprising birds that soar above our cities around the world.

From frigatebirds wheeling over Rio de Janeiro to bower birds displaying in the suburbs of Canberra, penguins in Cape Town to pelicans in San Francisco, and huge flocks of starlings roosting around the Colosseum in Rome, the world’s cities are home to a remarkable array of feathered citizens.

Through Stephen Moss’s expert knowledge and insight, Urban Aviary provides a beautiful guide to some of the most extraordinary species of city birds that have become native, including helpful spotting hints and fact boxes for each bird, all of which are brought to life by Marc Martin’s distinctive and beautiful watercolors.
