Domestic abuse spiked during COVID-19 but it is far from over. As more stories of police brutality and racial injustice emerge, it’s understandable why survivors in many communities are questioning whether law enforcement is a viable option for help.

**Abuse Expert Mannette Morgan is sharing need-to-know information about violence and domestic abuse amid racial injustices in the post-COVID era. She has practical actionable advice and free resources for survivors to get help and to stop the cycle of abuse in our society.

Violence seems to be everywhere right now and it’s not only the protests against racism and police brutality. Domestic abuse spiked during COVID-19 but it is far from over. Although our country has started the reopening process, the pandemic and its economic fallout have made it harder for those who experience domestic violence to escape their abuser.

As more stories of police brutality and racial injustice emerge, it’s understandable why survivors in many communities are questioning whether law enforcement is a viable option for help.

Regardless of race, domestic violence victims are often hesitant to involve the police. Of the 847,230 known incidents of intimate partner violence in 2018, only 45% were reported to police, according to a Bureau of Justice Statistics report. For women of color, this choice is even more difficult as they must weigh the very real concern that they or their partner could face a life-altering situation by responding officers.

According to Abuse Expert Mannette Morgan, stress, anger, and fear creates combustible tensions and survivors need help now more than ever.

Morgan has emerged as a leading voice among abuse survivors and is sharing free resources and tools victims can use to get help, get out, heal and thrive. After 30 years of intense self-work, Morgan overcame her past trauma of emotional, sexual, and physical abuse and today uses her experience to help survivors put their lives back together again.

“Each one of us can hope and dream for a better tomorrow even during times like this. My dream is a society free of abuse…”

…says Morgan, whose ultimate goal is to eradicate the cycle of abuse by healing and educating those who are most likely to fall into the same patterns over and over again. Mannette Morgan’s incredible story of survival and recovery is documented in the book Finding Your Voice. Praised for its unique perspective on healing and breaking the cycle of abuse, Morgan speaks to not only survivors but to society-at-large. The book is part memoir, part comprehensive blueprint guide that offers step-by-step strategies, encouraging personal anecdotes, and expert techniques built upon the foundation of years of self-help work, therapy, and Morgan’s own transformative approach to healing.
