ARTHUR MURRAY DANCE ACROSS TEXAS TO BENEFIT ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION

The Mommies Reviews

(Texas)

The only thing Texans love more than dancing is helping out fellow Texans – and on June 18 we can do just that.

Arthur Murray of Danbury | Danbury, CT Dance Studio

Arthur Murray Dance Studios are partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association in Texas and hosting the “Dance Across Texas” live virtual event on Thursday, June 18, from 6pm – 8pm.

“The program is part of June’s “Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month” activities, which include The Longest Day fund raising events,” says Christy Hill, The Longest Day manager for the Capital of Texas Alzheimer’s chapter. “These dance teams will compete against each other to raise money for Alzheimer’s education and support in the local communities.  Viewers will decide the winners by voting with donations. The dancer(s) that raise the most will be the winner.”

Dancing is not only good physical exercise, it’s a great way to exercise the brain, too.  “Scientists have found that the areas of the brain that control memory and skills such as planning and organizing improve with exercise,” says Meg Barron, Alzheimer’s Association Regional Lead – Texas,  and Executive Director of the San Antonio & South Texas chapter.  “It’s a perfect match for Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month.”

Dancers will shoot a video of themselves at home and submit it to run during the event, which will be carried live on the Facebook pages for the Texas Alzheimer’s Association chapters:
