First and formost I can not sing and I never will be able to. Burt don’t tell David and Charlie because I like to sing even though I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. How about you?
For the Day #17 Song of the Day Challenge: A Song I Like To Sing As A Duet I had to think about this a while because I haven’t ever sung a Duet. Have you? How about Karoke? Not me not ever…
I decided on a song from Sex and the City one of my favorite tv shows. I Am Women. Have you heard this song? Would you sing I Am Woman with me?
“I Am Woman” is a song written by Australian musicians Helen Reddy and Ray Burton. Performed by Reddy, the first recording of “I Am Woman” appeared on her debut album I Don’t Know How to Love Him, released in May 1971, and was heard during the closing credits for the 1972 film Stand Up and Be Counted. A new recording of the song was released as a single in May 1972 and became a number-one hit later that year, eventually selling over one million copies. The song came near the apex of the counterculture era[1] and, by celebrating female empowerment, became an enduring anthem for the women’s liberation movement.
LyricsI am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an’ pretend
‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down againOh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
(Strong)
I am invincible
(Invincible)
I am womanYou can bend but never break me
‘Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
‘Cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my soulOh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
(Strong)
I am invincible
(Invincible)
I am womanI am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin’ arms across the land
But I’m still an embryo
With a long, long way to go
Until I make my brother understandOh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can face anything
I am strong
(Strong)
I am invincible
(Invincible)
I am womanI am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
