With the recent announcement around school closures surrounding the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), many parents now have the added concern of a way to keep their children occupied for the few months duration. We all know that things are stressful but it’s crucial to avoid public areas at now. Below are some tips and tricks for keeping your kids busy during this social distancing.
Write letters. Especially if you’ve got family in an assisted living or a nursing facility. Social distancing means you will not be able to see relations or friends personally. to jot down a pleasant letter, draw a fun picture and build those letter writer skills!
Do a science experiment. You likely have the ingredients readily available for an easy science project. it’ll promote learning and fun.
Build a fort. Does anyone have pillows? Blankets? Large jackets? Well, turn them into a fun fort and make an area especially for your kids. Challenge them to make it in a very new place day after day. it’ll keep them busy and also take their mind off of being within the same house most of the day.
Video chat along with your loved ones. It’s safer than meeting personally and can help the time elapse faster. Plus, grandparents like to see your kiddos!
Try a brand new recipe. Pull ingredients from your pantry. If your kids are older, have them create the recipe. If they’re a touch young for that, have them be sous chef – mixing everything up. Either way, make them be the taste tester. you will even find a brand new favorite meal!
Clean out the closets. they need clothes they’ve outgrown, you never have time to travel through them. Turn your hallway into a runway and allow them to be the model! enclose stuff that doesn’t fit, and donate to friends or a neighborhood ministry.
Keep somewhat of a standard schedule. If your child is of faculty age, they’re likely receiving assignments and tasks from their schools. make certain to attach along with your child’s teacher to confirm you’ve got expectations during self-isolation. put aside some dedicated time to tackle their schoolwork and permit for playtime in addition. And if they typically take a nap, keep that up – it’ll prevent crankiness for them and ensure some sanity for you!
Do an art project. Does anyone have paper? Crayons? Markers? Paint? Perfect! Let your kids use their full imagination and make art for you. Challenge them to hide and enclose their room with their new art!
Get some fresh air (safely). If you’ve got a backyard, let your kids play when the weather’s nice. they have outside time that’s out of public space. No backyard? No problem! opt for a brief walk each morning and afternoon.
Play some music. If you’ve got instruments round the house, pull them out and structure a brand new song together. If you don’t, that’s not a controversy – anything that creates noise can become an instrument! See if your kids can start their own band and have them “perform” their new songs for you at the tip of the day.
