David and I walked at Haltom Road Park featuring a 0.37 mile walking/jogging trail, Haltom Road Park a 9.0 acre neighborhood park with a small shelter, restrooms, playground, picnic areas and a baseball/football practice field.
The park is located at located at 3113 Haltom Rd. The park backs up to my sisters home and she has a gate leading into the park. Which is where we used to host East Egg hunts when Suzzane and my nephew David was small.
While at the park I took the time to visit the Haltom City Veterans Memorial for the first time up close. I was so impressed by all the details they included in the Monument.
I was able to reflect on everyone I know who has served in the service and to take the time to PRAY for them as well as our fallen police officers and reflect back onto the ones who helped with Suzzie was hit by the truck.
I can’t wait until Charlie begin his class on the Military and learns more about the Monument and all the area of services we have and why they are important to us.
The objective was for this Memorial to be reverent, respectful and reflective to honor those men and women who have valiantly fought and died for our freedom .
The Veterans Memorial includes an impressive 30-foot victory arch with the names of the fallen from Haltom City. A water feature includes a 6,000-pound solid granite globe, with etchings of the world that rotates. This fountain was made possible by donations from a local resident, Bonnie Richards and her family.
Encircling the fountain are seven granite pedestals representing each branch of the military as well as the Haltom City Police and Fire Departments. Stone benches provide seating around the Memorial.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
