I would like to share Mesquite Arts Center which we visited this weekend with #PictureYourselfinMesquiteFamTour. We was able to look around the building and to attend a class Mesquite Arts Center hosted.
Which was a DIY Silk Screening with Tour. Charlie was able to design his own T Shirt and we would have been able to but time got away from us. But we did receive a T Shirt made by the instructors.
I can’t wait for David and I to be able to wear our T Shirts and let everyone we know our family attended a Silk Screening class. teaching us how to make T Shirts. I just wish I had the equipment because Charlie and I could start our own business.
The instructor over Mesquite Arts Center was so nice and patient. She took the time to explain what we would be doing and to answer our questions. Then she introduced us to the gentleman running the class. By the time Charlie finished I felt like we had a new friend.
I loved seeing other designs the teacher had made and I hope to be able to reach out to him soon. I would like to see if he would help design shirts for my blog. Along with shirts for my business partners.
I know David and Charlie would like more T Shirts as well. I plan on watching to see if the Mesquite Arts Center will be hosting this class in the future so we can go back and learn more about starting a company of our own. Although, I wish Haltom City would host a class. But don’t hold your breath on that happening.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out Mesquite Arts Center you can find them here. I would like to let you know there is a library inside this building as well.

Mesquite Arts Council
The Mesquite Arts Council is a nonprofit organization designated to support and nourish the arts in Mesquite. The Council allocates local grants funds and resources for the arts, provides needed services to artists, member organizations and the community; is an advocate for culturally diverse arts programs and is active in the community with regard to cultural planning, development and advocacy of the arts. Additionally, the Council manages the Mesquite Arts Center and the Public Art Program for the City of Mesquite.
Founded in 1981, the Mesquite Arts Council initially was a part of the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce Cultural Committee. Official recognition by the State of Texas occurred in 1984 as a result of the development of by-laws, articles of incorporation and tax exempt status. With the successful organization of the Mesquite Community Theatre in 1985, the Arts Council assisted the band and orchestra with an equitable allocation of hotel/motel tax monies. Delivery of the Local Cultural Grants Program in 1993 by the Arts Council to the arts nonprofit community further solidified a commitment to arts services and continues to date. Currently, and in addition to the previously listed arts administration elements, the Mesquite Arts Council provides administrative support and policy making towards the operation of the Mesquite Arts Center, marketing materials, the public art program and both visual and performance presenting schedule.
