DALLAS (May 16, 2019) – With the sweltering Texas summer imminent, the Perot Museum will offer a cool retreat with seriously smart, amaze-your-brain fun. Highlights include The Art of the Brick traveling exhibition, late nights, adults-only fun, sleepovers, Discovery Camps, a festival celebrating all things dinosaur and new films (including Apollo 11: First Steps Edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first two people to land on the moon). Plus, the Museum will open an hour earlier each day from May 24-Sept. 2 for extended summer fun.
Receiving rave reviews, The Art of the Brick features the world’s largest display of LEGO art in what CNN has named a top 10 global must-see exhibition. Highlights include re imagined versions of famous masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s David and Van Gogh’s Starry Night, a 20-foot T. Rex (comprised of 80,000 LEGO bricks!), unique photography, and the fan favorite Yellow, a life-size sculpture of a man ripping his chest open with thousands of yellow LEGO bricks cascading from the cavity. (Yellow has gained pop-culture fame appearing on fashion labels, album covers and even in Lady Gaga’s music video “G.U.Y.”) Plus, all ages can interact in the hands-on LEGO brick gallery – dubbed The Science of the Brick – featuring open creative spaces and building challenges.

Other summer must-dos include Asteroid Day on June 30, Moon Day on July 20, new films opening May 24 – including the beloved Superpower Dogs 3 D, Apollo 11: First Steps Edition and Wild Africa 3 D – plus sleepovers, two Social Science events (ages 21 and up), Summer Nights (for all ages), extended hours and the National Geographic: Symphony for Our World with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra June 22-23. The Museum will wrap up its summer thrills with the second-annual Dino Fest Aug. 31-Sept. 1!
SLEEPOVERS
Ever wonder what the Museum is like after hours? Then book an overnight adventure and feed your curiosity! Children ages 6-14 and their adult chaperones can get behind-the-scenes access to the Museum’s 11 exhibit halls complete with exclusive demonstrations, hands-on discovery, a late-night snack, 3 D film and light breakfast to round out the experience. Sleepovers are set for May 24 (Video Game Science), June 29 (Super Science) and July 19 (STEM Cub Scout Nova) from 6:30 p.m.-8 a.m. and are open to groups of all sizes – from a parent and child to entire organizations. Costs range from $45-$55 per child and $30-$45 per adult chaperone. Tickets go fast, so reserve today.
Hang out late! The monthly Summer Nights return as the Perot Museum stays open until 8 p.m. with unique programming, speakers, performances, interactive demos and activities. Included with general admission, Summer Nights take place June 6 (Sports Science), July 5 (Summer Science) and Aug. 1 (Maker) beginning at 5 p.m. Summer Nights: Maker is supported by Dallas County Community College District.
A far cry from the typical dinner-and-a-movie date night, Social Science is the ultimate evening out for adults 21 and up.

To raise awareness about asteroids and explore solutions to minimize the threats they pose to the planet, the Museum will celebrate Asteroid Day on June 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Asteroid Day is celebrated globally on June 30 because on that day in 1908, the most recent large-impact asteroid impact occurred in Siberia. Examine real specimens, speak with experts, and find out about the possible dangers and potential benefits associated with these celestial objects.
Ever pondered a career in architecture? Then don’t miss A Day in the Life: Architect on Saturday, July 13, at 8:30 a.m. Meet local architects and learn all about their careers, then construct a building that could fit within the Dallas skyline. A panel of architects will judge the structures and award prizes to the top three buildings. After a friendly competition, enjoy refreshments and an exclusive look at The Art of the Brick exhibition guided by a Perot Museum Brainiac. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing on July 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and explore life in space, launch rockets, create lunar settlements and more to commemorate this historic day. Don’t miss the film Apollo 11: First Steps Edition, in The Hoglund Foundation Theater Moon Day is presented by Primrose Schools.
Superheroes, wacky weather, dinosaurs, ocean animals, LEGOs and more! Pre-K through 6th graders can partake in week-long day camp sessions with hands-on experiments and interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities at Discovery Camp. Additional Discovery Camps are available at The Hockaday School, a state-of-the-art facility with a unique makerspace. Discovery Camps will take place June 3-Aug. 16at the Perot Museum (English and Spanish camps offered) and The Hockaday School. Before- and after-care is available for K-6th grade. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC: SYMPHONY FOR OUR WORLD
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Perot Museum have partnered to present National Geographic: Symphony for Our World on Saturday, June 22, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 23, at 2:30 p.m. at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Combining stunning National Geographic natural-history footage with an original symphony and theme created by Emmy®- and BAFTA-nominated Bleeding Fingers Music, featuring composers Austin Fray and Andrew Christie, Symphony for Our World is a breathtaking musical journey through some of the world’s most incredible wildlife spectacles. Culminating the summer, the second-annual Dino Fest returns with the ultimate dinosaur celebration Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Activities will invade all five levels of the Museum, bringing troves of fun from fossil hunts and dissections, to dino dig pits, T. Rex sports challenges, Paleo demos, live music, art activities and more. Dino Fest is free to members and included with general admission for non-members. Select activities require a surcharge. HOURS. Through May 23, general hours of operation for the Perot Museum are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. From May 24-Sept. 2, the Perot Museum will open 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Members enjoy exclusive access to the Perot Museum and The Art of the Brick from 8-9 a.m. every Saturday and 9-10 a.m. every Sunday. The Museum will close for routine annual maintenance Sept. 3-5. Regular hours from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. will resume Friday, Sept. 6.
TICKETS. Museum general admission is $20 for adults (13-64), $13 for youth (2-12) and $18 for seniors (65+). Museum general admission is free for members. Children under 2 are always free. The Art of the Brick requires a surcharge of $10 for adults (13-64) and seniors (65+), $8 for youth (2-12) and free for children under 2. Member tickets are $7 for all age levels.
DISCOUNTS
Active-duty members and veterans of the United States military, law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics/EMTs receive complimentary general admission and $3 off general admission for members of their immediate families (up to seven family members).
