Things To Do At A Staycation

The Mommies Reviews

Are you planning a trip away with your family? A vacation means just letting your hair down and enjoying time with the kids. Sometimes life happens and you may not be able to afford an overseas trip. What do you do then? Never fear! You can always have a staycation! This means you can just stay at home with your kids and still have a great vacation. How can you do this, you ask? It is understandable that you may be disappointed with the turn of events but you can still make the most of a vacation, right at home!

Camp in your yard

You can still go camping even if you’re at home. Camp in your yard, pitch a tent and have a safe bonfire. Don’t have a yard? Take a hike outside the city and set up camp in the neighboring woods. It is possible that there are some places that you haven’t explored. Take your kids to these places and have a new experience even if you’re still in your home turf. Like you would do for other places, do your homework about these places as well. Even though it is near your place, don’t get complacent,  there may still be hidden dangers there.

Be a tourist
Go paint the town red! Even though it is your city and turf, there are bound to be little attractions you haven’t been to yet like maybe a quaint café with good food or a bowling alley that’s opened up recently. Take this opportunity to be a tourist in your own city. If you’re happy your kids will be as well. Indulge in good food. Let your children freak out on things they like. You could surprise them with candies. Take a stash of bulk Mexican candy for them to freak out on. You don’t go on vacation every day. Let the kids enjoy the time too!

Do different activities
In normal daily life, there must be a lot of things you’ve always wanted to do. Maybe you wanted to go see movies or just have a playdate with your children. Now is the perfect time to spend time with your children and bond with them. You might be surprised at how much they’ve grown while you were at work. Take this time to reconnect with them. You may even learn new things from your children! You could do educating activities together like create art, or play educating games. Don’t stress too much on this though. You’re on a vacation after all.

Check out local events happening
A staycation is a perfect time to go to that concert you always wanted to go to. If you live in a city, there are always local events happening. You could hit these events for a change. Even if there’s an event that you particularly didn’t think you’d enjoy, it’s worth checking it out with family. Good company always makes everything good.

Make the most of any situation. Even if your vacation is in the danger of being canceled, do what you can and use the opportunity to spend time with family no matter where you are.

Thank you,
