A JOHN WILLIAMS CHRISTMAS

The Mommies Reviews

Charlie, David and I was able to attend a Family Christmas Event last week at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. When we attended A John Williams Christmas. I was excited when we was invited to the event as they would be playing tunes from Harry Potter which both David and my Uncle Chuck loved.

I didn’t tell Charlie or David anything about the concert because I wanted them to be surprised. As we walked in Charlie was excited to see the Hot Chocolate Station. I thought that would be the first place Charlie would head to. Although Charlie asked if we could walk around and look at all the tables they had set up in the lobby.

Charlie became more and more excited and was more like a child instead of the adult he is trying to become. I could hear Charlie laughing and the excitement in his voice. Charlie tried out some of the instruments. Then Charlie and I went and created some of the crafts they had out for the children.

Charlie even let me know if I wanted him to get his picture with Santa that he would take one for me. Because Charlie knows how much Santa pictures mean to me. I let Charlie know he didn’t have to as I had one from this year. Although Charlie did take a picture in front of some of the Christmas Trees they had set up.

Once they opened the doors and we went in to sit down the only problem we had was we were on the top floor. Charlie being afraid of heights he couldn’t sit inside. Charlie opted to sit in the lobby so I wouldn’t miss the show. David and I decided we would leave because we didn’t want to make Charlie uncomfortable and we didn’t feel right asking them to change our seats.

As we were leaving a Usher saw us walking and asked for our tickets and was going to show us where to go. David let the Usher know we were leaving and why. The User kindly found us seats on the ground floor so we could  attend the concert. I was so excited because I didn’t want to leave.

Once the Music began the Conductor discussed what would be playing. Charlie let me know he loved Home Alone and had fun telling me what he enjoyed most about the movie. Allowing us to come home and have a Movie Night as we watched all the Home Alone Movies and listened and discussed the music we heard. Which was a Music lesson for our Homeschooling Music Class.

David was impressed and excited to hear music from Harry Potter and has asked for books and Harry Potter movies. Giving Charlie and I a idea of what to get David for Christmas. Then they played music from the Polar Express David’s favorite Christmas Movie. Charlie also enjoyed this music and asked for both the book and movie which we didn’t have.

During the show Santa surprised everyone as he made a appearance. Charlie let me know he liked having the Choir join in the performance and sing with the Symphony. Charlie even said he would like to check into Choir and also Band at his school because Charlie would like to learn to sing and to play a instrument.

This wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t attended several Concerts at Dallas Symphony Orchestra  in the past. For our family these events have brought us closer together and expanded our love of music. I love how the tickets are inexpensive enough that we could afford to go to any Concerts we chose to during the year.

As well as purchase tickets for Music Lovers on our Gift Giving List. Including Charlie’s teacher who hasn’t ever been to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Shuteck mentioned to Charlie she would like to bring her daughter one day to a Concert one day when her daughter is in town from College.
