Preparing My Christmas Wish List

The other day I was asking Charlie to compile his Christmas Wish List so I would be able to start purchasing one item a  week for him. When David walked in and let me know I needed to do the same thing as it would make his Christmas Shopping easier when he takes Charlie. As they would be able to get me the items I want.
Now both David and Charlie should know what I like by now and I shouldn’t have to make a list. Because as soon as we walk into Walmart I head to the book section and I always gravitate to the same books which I haven’t purchased as I thought I would get them for Mother’s Dasy which didn’t happen. This morning I thought I would share the books I would like to have.
Anyone who knows me knows I always watch the same shows and one of them is Chip and Joanna Gaines Home Show and List It or Love It. As soon as I found our Joanna has a Bakery and a store at the Silho I put it on my Bucket List and I plan on visiting one day. Until then I would like to have all the books her and her husband Chip has written.
Do you watch this show if so what do you like about it and why? Have you seen here books? Or Chips book? Do you have any of them or would you like to purchase her books and if so why? Have you visited her businesses?

Are you ready to see your fixer-upper?

These famous words are now synonymous with the dynamic husband-and-wife team Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of HGTV’s Fixer Upper. As this question fills the airwaves with anticipation, their legions of fans continue to multiply and ask a different series of questions, like—Who are these people? What’s the secret to their success? And is Chip actually that funny in real life? By renovating homes in Waco, Texas, and changing lives in such a winsome and engaging way, Chip and Joanna have become more than just the stars of Fixer Upper, they have become America’s new best friends.

The Magnolia Story is the first book from Chip and Joanna, offering their fans a detailed look at their life together. From the very first renovation project they ever tackled together, to the project that nearly cost them everything; from the childhood memories that shaped them, to the twists and turns that led them to the life they share on the farm today.

They both attended Baylor University in Waco. However, their paths did not cross until Chip checked his car into the local Firestone tire shop where Joanna worked behind the counter. Even back then Chip was a serial entrepreneur who, among other things, ran a lawn care company, sold fireworks and flipped houses. Soon they were married and living in their first fixer-upper. Four children and countless renovations later, Joanna garners the attention of a television producer who notices her work on a blog one day.

In The Magnolia Story fans will finally get to join the Gaines behind the scenes and discover:

  • The time Chip ran to the grocery store and forgot to take their new, sleeping baby
  • Joanna’s agonizing decision to close her dream business to focus on raising their children
  • When Chip buys a houseboat, sight-unseen, and it turns out to be a leaky wreck
  • Joanna’s breakthrough moment of discovering the secret to creating a beautiful home
  • Harrowing stories of the financial ups and downs as an entrepreneurial couple
  • Memories and photos from Chip and Jo’s wedding
  • The significance of the word magnolia and why it permeates everything they do
  • The way the couple pays the popularity of Fixer Upper forward, sharing the success with others, and bolstering the city of Waco along the way

And yet there is still one lingering question for fans of the show: Is Chip really that funny? “Oh yeah,” says Joanna. “He was, and still is, my first fixer-upper.”

About Joanna Gaines

J O A N N A

Joanna Gaines and her husband, Chip Gaines, are co-founders and co-owners of Magnolia Homes, Magnolia Market and Magnolia Realty in Waco, Texas. Together, they also host HGTV’s Fixer Upper, where Joanna serves as the lead designer and Chip handles construction. Joanna appreciates the old ways of living, simple and hard-working with home at the center of it all.

Joanna, also known by friends and fans as “Jo” or “JoJo”, was born in Kansas and raised in the Lone Star State. She graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Communications and was inspired to join the world of design while interning in New York City. Joanna decided to open a home decor shop, Magnolia Market, in 2003; bringing her NYC-inspired ideas and eye for design back to Waco, Texas. She soon discovered this passion complemented Chip’s construction experience, and together they began remodeling and flipping homes.

Recently Chip and Joanna partnered to write their autobiography: The Magnolia Story. The Magnolia Story details their life together; from how they met and their first home renovation projects, to how they came to have their own TV show and much more.

In between filming for Fixer Upper, their home renovation projects, and managing the Magnolia businesses, Joanna enjoys life on their farm, writing for her blog and spending time cooking family recipes in her kitchen. Gardening soothes her soul and being with her four kids dominates all other favorites.

Charlie says you can’t have Joanna without Chip and I agree with Charlie.

About Chip Gaines

C H I P P E R

Chip Gaines and his wife, Joanna Gaines, are co-founders and co-owners of Magnolia Homes, Magnolia Market and Magnolia Realty in Waco, Texas. Together, they also host HGTV’s Fixer Upper, where Chip handles construction and Joanna serves as the lead designer.

Chip was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was raised in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business with a degree in marketing. Chip is an entrepreneur by nature and started and sold many small businesses before Magnolia. Having grown up spending time on his granddad’s ranch in North Texas, Chip became a true cowboy at heart. He was made for hard labor and always preferred digging ditches to academic pursuits.

Chip specializes in making the impossible possible for Joanna’s designs, and his design preference is “whatever Joanna likes.” To say he adds comic relief to the team would be an understatement.

Recently Chip and Joanna partnered to write their autobiography: The Magnolia Story. The Magnolia Story details their life together; from how they met and their first home renovation projects, to how they came to have their own TV show and much more.

Chip loves life with his four kiddos and is head over heels for Joanna. Hand in hand is exactly how Chip prefers to work, which makes Fixer Upper even more fun to watch, and he enjoys seeing his and Joanna’s passions merge to complement and serve one another.
