Space Exploration in the Twentieth Century
In the twentieth century, the dream of space travel became real. It started in 1957, with the launch of the first human-made object into space. The Sputnik 1 satellite, which orbited Earth, was built by the USSR.
Skull, Ribs, and Spine
The axial skeleton includes the skull, ribs, and spine. Most of our vital organs—such as the brain, spinal cord, heart, and lungs—are protected by bony armor. Each part of the body is shielded differently.
Sustainability
To sustain something means to keep it in existence. When we talk about resources, sustainability means living today in a way that will let people meet their needs in the future.
Victory in Europe
June 6, 1944, marked the beginning of the final Allied campaign. It was the day the Allied troops landed in Normandy, France.
