This morning, I wanted to share two Language Art resources with you. They are Homeschool Resource Leaning Ally & Chateau Meddybemps- Young Writers Workshop. I can’t wait until I can try out both of these resources in our Homeschool classroom. If you have used either of this resource what did you think of them and why?
Founded in 1948, the non-profit Learning Ally provides audiobooks to students with learning disabilities and visual impairments and has the most extensive collection of audio textbooks and literature titles in the world – over 75,000. Parents love Learning Ally! In fact, 97% of parents say Learning Ally has helped their child. Age Range: 3-12 (Grades PreK-7, with parental supervision)
You can enter your budding author’s writing to be published on the Chateau Meddybemps website and win a free t-shirt!
To whet your appetite, when you get to the website, take a look at what other children have published. These stories, found in the menu on the right side of the screen, are fun to read and will give you the confidence that your child has a good chance of seeing his or her writing online!
To inspire your child to write a story for submission, select one or more of the “Story Starters” on the menu in the middle of the screen. These are prompts (suggestions for a story) formatted on a printable lined sheet of paper that includes a simple illustration. Just open the .pdf file, print it out, review it with your child, and encourage him or her to draw and write to their heart’s content! Winning entries have been as short as one sentence or as long as ten pages, and they often even include original illustrations!
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie, and David Cates
