Bears New Friend Written By Karma Wilson

When Charlie checks out books at the library, he never things to see if there are more than one of the books and is what happened when he found Bears New Friend written by Karma Wilson. So we sat down to read the first book as we were studying animals in our Homeschool classroom.

Charlie and I both loved the storyline, and now we can’t wait to return to the library to check out the rest of the books. Once we finish the series, Charlie wants to try and write his own story about a bear. So he has been practicing drawing the bears in the book so he can illustrate his novels.

Charlie took the book down to his grandmothers to share the story with my niece, and she liked the story just as much as Charlie, and I did. I can’t wait to purchase this set of books for Elijah for Christmas. As well as buying the collection of books for Charlie and me to add to our library so when the little ones come over Charlie, and I have books to share with them.

Eager to play in the fall leaves, Bear heads out to find his friend, Mouse but is startled by clatter in a tree. Determined to find out who is making all the noise, Bear goes on a short journey, picking up all of his friends on the way, until he discovers a quite bashful owl whom he declares their NEW FRIEND!

My life is a series of lessons and moments that see me in the next lessons and moments. Some moments are sweet, some scary, some a blur gone too fast and forever missed. I write for children because all of these steps started there, in childhood, and that sense of wonder, keen curiosity, and the ability to see things much kinder and more magical than they were fades as time passes and years and experience claim your naivety. For me, it is a feeling only rekindled when I am creating books, stories, and poetry.

My children, family, and friends are a great inspiration to me, and the support of my readers is a tremendous honor. It is always my desire to entertain children and encourage them to think about and explore their world, and the worlds beyond, embrace creativity and love learning for the duration of their life. Knowledge comes through words, so for me, literacy is the foundation of education, and it bears the fruit of intelligent and empathetic citizens of this world and humanity.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie, and David Cates
