Charlie and I wanted to share a new children’s book we found at Half Price Bookstores the other day. Charlie picked up to add to our Christmas collection of books. I can’t wait to share this new book with my nieces and nephews and Charlie is as excited as I am to share it with them.
Even though it wasn’t Christmas, I sat down to read the story I was drawn in and couldn’t put it down until Charlie and I finished the entire book. I can’t wait to work on some Lesson Plans to use with this new book as well as check out other books Lisa Wheeler has published as I know both Charlie and I will enjoy the new books just as much as we did Uncles and Antlers.
Another feature Charlie and I liked knowing about this new book are that it is a counting book and we can use this new children’s book to teach Elijah how to count. Or to reinforce the numbers Lily, Payton, and Jason already know. If I were still working in a Day Care, I would purchase this new book to share with my students.
Uncles and Antlers Written by Lisa Wheeler
Grab the reins of this Christmas counting story starring eight wacky reindeer who make up a happy family—and help Santa fly his sleigh—illustrated by Caldecott Medalist Brian Floca.
Once a year, every year, the seven uncles gather.
Shaggy coats, scarves of red.
Two tall antlers on each head.
Is it their niece they’ve come to see?
Surely, yes.
Is it their job they’ve come to do?
Most definitely.
And is she eager to join in the fun?
Absolutely!
Here is a playful tribute to a famous team of eight relatives who, once a year, every year, bring delight to children.
